sjf_mangler is a sample manipulator that creates randomised variations to looped audio. Variations include segment reversals, playback speed changes, beat repeats, amplitude changes, and segment shuffling. The device includes the ability to sync playback to the host DAW’s tempo, the potential to create patterns which do not follow the original time signature, and six different interpolation algorithms.

sjf_mangler2 is a sample manipulator that creates randomised variations to looped audio. Just like sjf_mangler it can create variations on playback including segment reversals, playback speed changes, beat repeats, amplitide chanegs, and segment shuffling. The device includes the ability to sync playback to the host DAW’s tempo, the potential to create patterns which do not follow the original time signature, and 6 different interpolation algorithms. As an advancement of sjf_mangler, sjf_mangler2 also includes the potential to load multiple samples at once and have each step of the pattern chosen from amongst these samples according to user set probabilities.

sjf_granSynth is a granular cloud generator featuring controls for the delta time, start position, panning, transposition, size, gain, and reverberation, for each grain. Includes 5 different envelope types.
Clouds can be generated randomly, or the trajectory of through the grain can be set using the interface.
The device accepts either .wav or .aif files.
The following clouds were all generated with using a sample of an A440 Sine Wave as the source material Grain Cloud 1

sjf_AAIM_Drums combines the AAIM_rhythmGen and AAIM_patternVary algorithms in a 16-voice drum sequencer designed to facilitate real-time manipulation of drum patterns.
The plug-in allows users to specify up to 16 different patterns, each of which can have a different time signature, and then apply stochastic variations to these in real-time.
The AAIM system allows the insertion of rhythmic tuplets, rests, and additional triggers, into the pattern.
Additional features include Markov chain, segment shuffling, reverse, and palindrome variations, enabling the creation of a wide range of alternative patterns.
The Audio Unit can be placed as a MIDI Effect in Logic and the VST can be placed before an instrument in Reaper. In Ableton, you will need to route the MIDI output to another channel… other DAW’s will probably need a similar approach.

sjf_fyzik is a physical modelling softsynth based on Julius Smith’s waveguide techniques. The synth is designed to create a variety of string and percussive sounds, with an emphasis on creating unusual timbres rather than emulating any individual acoustic instrument.

sjf_convo is a convolution plug-in, designed primarily to be used as a convolution reverb but capable of convolving the input signal with any audio file (within reason as cpu usage goes up with the length of the audio file…).
In addition to the basic convolution feature, the plug-in also enables the user to reverse, stretch, and trim the impulse response, as well as apply amplitude envelopes to the impulse response.
There are also low and high pass filters available on the output as well as a predelay function on the input.

sjf_spectralProcessor is a 16 band graphic EQ with LFO modulation for gain and feedback delay lines for each band inspired by the Buchla 296e Spectral Processor.
The LFO modulation and delays allow for time domain spectral processing. It is also possible to set four presets, which can then be interpolated between using the XY pad.
Further features include setting the filter order and type, as well as outputting only odd/even numbered bands.

sjf_verb is an algorithmic reverb design. It has four possible early reflection types, input and delay network filtering, predelay and predlay buffer reversal, two type of modulation, shimmer capabilities, and a mono low frequency feature.

sjf_moogLadder is an emulation of the moog ladder filter based on the approach of Will Pirkle. It includes four different lfo modulation waveforms for the cut-off frequency and resonance that can be set to a specific frequency or synced to the underlying tempo.

sjf_mincer is a granular delay plugin that can apply random playback variations and effects to individual grains, enabling the creation of a wide variety of (mostly chaotic ;) ) textures.
Delay time and grain rate can either be set in milliseconds or synced to the session tempo, as can random variations applied to the delay time. Grains can be triggered at different playback speeds (to achieve pitch shifting), in reverse, and repeated. Up to four additional grains can be triggered to create polyphonic textures. Crosstalk feeds the output of the left channel into the right channel and vice versa. The probability of triggering grains can be changed to create a more sparse texture. Individual grains can be played in reverse, and grains can be repeated to create various sonic results.
There are three effect processors that are applied to individual grains:
1) Bitcrushing and samplerate reduction
2) Ring modulation
3) Lowpass/highpass/bandpass filter
The frequency of both the ring modulator and filter can also be randomly varied on a grain-by-grain basis.
There are three output modes available:
1) Mix: mixes the output of the delay with the dry signal
2) Insert: is dependent on the density parameter and will insert the wet signal whenever a grain is triggered and otherwise the dry signal will be output
3) Gate: is also dependent on the density parameter but will only output the results of the grain engine. This is essentially the same as the mix output mode with the mix parameter set to 100
