Standalone - working
VSti- non working see details

Please note this is the original installer however the VSTi plugin does not load as tested in Reaper 5 and DP 9

The Standalone works perfectly on OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.

Please install it and and test out the VSTi plugin in your Host, report any that worked.
Maybe if we can get our heads together we can fix the VSTi plugin.

Appreciate any feedback on this Rare Find and also incredible sounding Application for it's time.

standalone doest work for me

You can’t open the application “FM7 OSX Installer” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.

where is the vst?

The vst is inside the Wise installer .
You need to install it for it to be available.
Maybe you could try Pacifist to extract what's inside the installer if that works.

Thanks for the Comments and yes I did look for the 1.1.2 update....

i installed this ( clean install )on an Imac 17 " running an Intel 1.83 ghz Core 2 Duo with OSX 10.6.8 2.5 gigs ram

The Wise installer installs both the Standalone and also the VSTi and VST FX. The Wise Installer must reside inside the SIT package and once extracted you can not zip or rar it or copy it to another location as the Wise Installer will become corrupted ( this was well documented back then when it was released for OSX . So keep that SIT file pack or else you will have to redownload it again. This is why I did not extract the Wise installer from the SIT file. If the Wise Installer loses it's icon ( that you see when extracted from the SIT ) you will encounter this error : "You can’t open the application “FM7 OSX Installer” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported- as I encountered.

FM7 was coded in Carbon so newer OSX versions of course will not work ( sadly)

Again I searched for months to finally have this FM7 working on an Imac that was surplus.

Final notes I am not a Mac person, only got the Imac 17" last year on a Surplus Store for $50.
Wanted to try out the older Mac versions that I missed while on the Wintel side ( Windows guy with Active Directory)

Thanks.
I am working on the VSTi issue as both Fm8 VSti and FM7 Vsti for Mac almost have the same PList info files. So there may be a fix for the Fm7 Vsti by copying the PLIST from the FM8 VSti ... still testing.

the question stays , why would you want this? while FM8 is a far greater and better updated version..

maybe it sounds better than fm8, like absynth2 sounds better than 3+ - still using fm7 on windows and i would use it on mac if it was compatible with os10.9

FM7 and FM8, when you turn the FX off sound the same. The sounds null completely. So it's only a matter of preference that matters. I like the user interface in FM7 better because I'm so used to it.

youre right, can only be the fx that slightly differ - wish fm8 would be skinable so you could make it look like the 7

Installed it on my 10.6.8 HD .
The serial number entered was accepted but the standalone app is asking for the original CD disk after the first launch.
The VST does not load in Cubase 7.5.
The AU isn't recognize in Logic Pro 9.1.8. as it need a newer version according to NI.
On my system, nothing is working.
danfuert : How did you get the standalone to work without the CD disk.

originally you had to insert the disc once after setup ("protectionKey" & "SNO" is written into registry that is prolly portable... just an idea (same method was used on battery 1.x) danfuerth might look into his preferences folder /Library/Preferences and see com.native-instruments.fm7.plist

In case if you get the "CD needed" you reinstall the Vise Installer again and input the CD key again.
I encountered that error as well during file manipulations of the VSTi plugin

The FM7 is indeed a Classic Application and OS 10.6.8 was the last to have Rosetta Stone.
Somehow the Snow Leopard allows the Install and runs the Stanadlone fine

Will be posting a youtube tutorial tomorrow so you can see me playing and installing it.
