based on a simple WineSkin.app (then customized) ,
this is a very simple solution for running Nexus2 , UTOPIA's Air synths.

Set IAC bus as shown in video (in Application/Utility/Midi & audio configuration)
Launch our Template
Play your midi file in LogicX ,
Launch SynToMac who will stream WinSynths to LogicX....

We know that some other solutions already exists ...
no need of this kinds of remarks
Here Wine was modified with a lots a libs for install & run Utopia's Air-Synths and to be very handy.
The vst-host used for loading synths is MinihostModular (ImageLine) for its simplicity

I have done similar things to this. Have you thought about using the WINEASIO driver in there? You can get lower latency for sure.

i didn't know this package....
unfortunately , it must be compiled , for me it's not a problem ....
but for many users , compilation is to complicated..but why not including this in a futur update :-)
the goal here is to bounce (recording) WIN-Synths in LogicX
when done, you can easily readjust your track.

I am no expert in these things! I did manage to install this. I can't remember how exactly, but I think it was to do with using regsvr command within a windows shell, within wineskin!

It's a good thing that there is a pre-compiled version! and by the way it doesn't depend on have the JackOSX installed either.

You could run them through Virtual Box or other virtualisation software. BUT that would place much more overhead on your system. It would probably not run too smooth.

So the short answer is YES!

no it's not an add , it's a standalone..
i recommend to use them not simultanously ...
(runnig MacPorts+wine simultanously cause some local-sharing-name problems)
1-choose your synth..
2-record it in logic...
3-then run WinVSToMac ;-)

solution 1
recording a live session :
1- use the basic midi track in the template then move your midi recorded to midi send
2- run SynToMac and load synths
solution 2
just for live not recording :
set your keyboard in minihost modular .. and set audio output to built-in

1- download and install MetaPlugin (DDMF) or Magma (nomadFactory) on audioz
2- then youtube for MetaPlugin or Magma using....
3- reproduce my template settings on Protools (i don't know how to midi IAC stuff in PT)
#i'll take a look if you stuck...
4- set soundflower for audio input in PT
PS:
i think you can laso use protools Aggregate for output of minihostModular and the input of PT

i confirm that "Rogue Amoeba Loopback" is much better than "soundflower" ...
Loopback significantly reduced the latency
MinihostModular buffer = 832
LogicX buffer = 32
