wow, thank you RET for this release. i'm not using linux myself but i acknowledge that this is a huge deal for audio as a whole, and i'm grateful that you put this out.

Very nice that S1 is being available for the Linux community but what about the Vsts:
I assume that it won't be possible to install those released for Mac or Windows on the Linux version of S1.
So basically, this Linux version would be limited to the Vsts included in the DAW?

There are roundabout ways to run win vsts on linux so it is possible. expect to have fun extracting installers, tweaking things like Yabridge and Carla (google for more info)

yeah, yabridge + wine-tkg + JACK2 + qjackctl + preempt kernel + rtirq + masked rtkit-daemon makes a competent linux audio machine

Wine TKG is only beneficial for gaming, not audio. JACK/QJACK not necessary for most people.

For low latency needs ALL you need is a realtime kernel, nothing else. And in that case it beats out Windows in latency, so you're not worse off than you were on Windows with using a stock kernel.

Yabridge is literally just extracting a folder to another folder then copy and pasting 2 terminal commands and it's ready to use.

You will need Ubuntu 23.04 with Wayland ,I haven't had any dependencies issues but as I said I did install pipewire jack .I ve seen posts that it works also on Manjaro but visit the presonus forum and ask

Can't get it to activate. Followed all the steps, did a chmod 777 with the patched app, ran the provided keygen on Windows, but when selecting the .licence file it says "Your demo period has ended". Anyone else with the same problem ?

Running on Debian (Testing branch)

These are all still early alpha releases that only work halfway under Ubuntu 23.10 (and not really well there either). Version 6.5.1 expired at the end of March and can no longer be activated even with a real license (they have a time limit built into these versions). A new alpha release came out a few days ago (6.6), but it doesn't run any better. But it will also expire soon.
