Pulsar Audio Pulsar Mu v1.6.4 ARM macOS-GUISEPPE screenshot
GUISEPPE | 2 June 2025 | 89 MB
An industry-standard tube compressor
There are several reasons to use a variable-bias tube compressor. One is the exceptional compression transparency that this kind of compressor can achieve, even when pushed into extreme gain reduction. Another – and perhaps the most common – is their ability to add cohesion or β€œglue” to buses, whole mixes and masters.

Unfortunately, the original hardware is expensive and difficult to integrate with β€œin-the-box” workflows. Software emulations exist but most owners of the hardware agree that they cannot be compared to the original unit, as there’s always β€œsomething” missing.

With its unique Topology Preservation Technology, Pulsar Mu sounds objectively identical to the hardware in every production context, and even makes improvements such as an increased signal-to-noise ratio.

With or without AAX?

Au and VST3

I would imagine without AAX, as TEAM GUISEPPE on most of these have been releasing AU arm only, although recently apparently started expanding to VST3 in addition on some releases (explaining their reasons for why they did not previously).

But one could always download and find out! :)

No they haven't.

The fact they have explained why another reasoning in other releases covers that.

Hi ! I can't get the plugin to appear in VST3 in Studio one, but Reaper sees and loads it. I codesigned, dequarantined, re-scan, but no luck
Only AU seems to be recognized and be loaded in Studio one (6 or 7)
MAC OS sequoia 15.5 , Mac Mini M2.

Any idea ?

Yeah, this has been something TEAM GUISEPPE has addressed with previous releases, and why they initially only released AU versions... as vst3's have been problematic in most daws outside of (I think) Cubase and Reaper via their methodology or whatnot, and they understandably didn't want to deal with a ton of complaints/"customer service" requests/or create confusion for others...

I've been using their releases strictly au, and for the most part (still testing some or haven't had time to work out all their releases appropriately), been all fine.

I, and they, understand that people want vst3 versions for various reasons from cross compatibility to certain daws limitations etc, but my understanding is that their time is limited and they are using their talents to bring what they can, when they can, and what they know 'works'.

In general, I would recommend sticking to au with their releases for now as they apparently recommend.

Advice to save space on your machine: Audio Units works much better and is more stable, also you can load intel plugs on M series via AU while you can't on vst. Also: yes, Reaper is absolutely GOATed DAW.

That is simply not true :
On Apple Silicon (M1/M2), VST3 plugins tend to be more frequently updated and optimized for native performance.

AU plugins can sometimes introduce instabilities or compatibility issues, especially when developers don't prioritize Apple’s AU framework.

VST3 works the same on macOS and Windows.

AU is mac-only, which can limit session portability or plugin compatibility if working across platforms (which I do A LOT)

Some AU versions of plugins don’t support external sidechain inputs, or support them inconsistently.

VST3 has clear, standardized sidechain routing, and Studio One supports this well.

I would say : Use VST3 whenever available in Studio One β€” it's the most compatible and robust format.

Honestly I personally experienced the opposite: bugs on vst and no bugs in AU, that's what convinced me to switch to AU. As for sidechain via plugin: no issue with what I use, else standard way via DAW always works of course.

As for DAWs: Cubase (obviously), Bitwig and Reason only support vst, while Logic, GB, Luna, Digital Performer and perhaps some other support only AU, while the other main ones support both (Ableton, FL, S1, Reaper and so on). Of course this doesn't apply for Slow Tools.

works fine on my m2 Sonoma (AU & VST3).
Ableton 12, Cubase 14, Logic 11.2 )
Just codesign it if needed.
Thanks!

Hey guys, a while ago ARM UVI was releasedβ€”does anyone know why it was taken down? I downloaded it but haven’t installed it yet. Is it broken or something?

dmca take down i believe

It's fine to use/test for yourself. It wasn't taken down as it didn't work, but as mentioned by whitewhitewhite, was likely removed from the site due to a dmca takedown notice, which the mods here take seriously and respectfully.

sometimes you gotta grab stuff fast or at least perhaps bookmark the peeplink or whatnot...

I just downloaded a trial Studio One 7.2 and didn't encounter any problems installing and running VST3 or AU (for all pulsar plugins posted here recently) on my M2max (Sonoma) machine.
Looks like the folks experiencing crashes and errors just need more time to learn?
Anyway, thanks for the uploads!
