If this is supposed to be an app for developing notes, chords, scales... MIDI... then why is it so damn large in file size?

It includes a sample library for testing it without a separate instrument. The library weights at least one third of the total installed

You can delete it once installed
[2009] Sorry for my English. I'm working on it
[2017] I'm beginning to improve. Hell yeah, I'm a fast learner :D

This app will change how you work.
I did music theory in school, took piano lessons later in life.
Learned more form this in a a year than anything that came before it.

Is someone else having a crash even before moving license? Win 11 vst3, tried nuendo, patchwork and axiom

I reinstall to try standalone. It worked great, but vst3 crashing anywhere

same problem i had with the first release. I had to restart the PC to get it to stop crashing vst3, but after a while something happens and it eventually goes back to crashing again until restart. I think it's only some of us with this problem and probably related to some other installation. I have 1200 plugins so figuring it out could be tricky. I can wait until something is fixed, i have plenty other melody makers.

Completely the same happened to me. I did a fresh install and didn't work. But after a restart it start working. Weird, but pretty sure it's a developer issue.

Hey I uninstalled the original release and installed this one, I no longer have those issues. How bout you, did you uninstall with Revo first or did you install over the original? I don't know what's different but it's working just fine now.

Has anyone used this (or Scaler 2)? What do you think of it, what has it done for you?

It's intriguing, but I'm not sure if it's a help or a hinderance for a beginner pursuing film scoring seriously.

Is it a gimmick, for lazy ProducerTube people making beats, like MIDI Wizard, or has this helped you learn and improve, either in performing or composing, even without relying on the plugin to do things for you?

I've messed with it a little and think it can be properly used to augment an actual knowledge of music theory. It's definitely aimed at people with no knowledge of theory at all and imho is a bit more like cheating for lazy producers that don't want to do the homework. I think it can function both ways and can do a good job in either case. If you have a working knowledge of theory, scales, modes, chordal/note relationships etc it can break you out of a rut when you always return to comfortable progressions you're familiar with by introducing borrowed chords and unusual progressions. But I can also see it being a crutch for people who just want to hit a button and get a completed series of chords much like those Midi chord packs. As a learning tool though, this could be invaluable when applied the right way.
Don't waste your time on people that waste your time.

You choose a harmony that sounds good and generate arrangements based on it until you sketch an idea, it is a tool for inspiration and not for learning music theory. Not everyone knows how to play musical instruments and working with composing / editing midi is a job of looking for a needle in a haystack, it takes inspiration and a lot of time before something comes out. These plugins are made for exactly that, so that as many people as possible can make music. Armin Van Buuren learned to play the piano only after he became famous, it's no joke. In reality, few people know music theory, composers of scores, opera and symphony singers, people who work deeply in music. To produce EDM for example, you only need the basics of Music Theory, to know how to write and tie some chords correctly, the rest is done in daw and does not require schools. Scaler3, Chord Pad in Cubase, Drummerr in Logic, all these are to inspire you and give you a helping hand when you get into the dark.

It's definitely not MIDI Wizard. That shit was such a gimmick. This is a sophisticated music theory tool that helps you learn as opposed to just spitting out chords randomly.

That being said, I used to use it a bit for the performance mode which made melodies. But since Ableton has the scale/fold function, I find it easier to just draw in my chords/melodies and adjust different voicings manually until I get a chord I like.

It helps me with understanding extended chords and helps me develop chord progressions beyond the first 8 bars in development. I then use EZKeys to find bass lines that work...

The Installer says Scaler 3 version 1.0.3-full_pib-5980, and clicking the about button = "blue" scaler 3 button, top left = Scaler 3 v1.0.3.c53a073

The license file MUST reside in the %user%\appdata\ root folder. Moving it anywhere else including somewhere that makes sense will cause the thing to throw license errors. At least that's the way it was with the pervious one.

Is it possible to import midi files in Scaler 3 ? It would be great if Scaler could analyse a melody and suggest chords progression ...

Sequestering everything from the firewall back is always a decent plan.
However, it would be nice to know if iLok might help here.

From their forum:
Deleting Scaler 3 Settings File and restart Scaler 3 seems to help some with crash:

Mac → /Users/[NAME]/Library/Application Support/Scaler 3.settings
PC → C:\Users[NAME]\AppData\Roaming\Scaler 3\Scaler 3.settings
