VO-TT (VOcal-oTT) is an intuitive OTT-style multiband dynamics processor, uniquely designed for vocal mixing. With minimal tweaks, VO-TT works its instant magic, transforming any vocal content into a balanced, professional sound.

OTT, short for "Over The Top," is a preset in Ableton’s Multiband Dynamics processor known for making tracks sound bold, exciting, and larger than life. While highly prized by EDM producers, the original OTT has several limitations and requires extensive adjustments, especially when applied to vocals.

VO-TT emerges as an innovative leap by taking the OTT conceptβ€”expander, upward compressor, and downward compressorβ€”and tuning it β€œjust right” across five vocal-specific frequency bands. This design lets you achieve a perfectly balanced vocal sound almost immediately, without any hassle. Whether you're mixing tracks, performing live, or just singing for fun, VO-TT is the versatile tool that fits all scenarios.

OTT is so overdone already, both in racks and plugins and OTT itself is out there and updated. They should focus their developing efforts on other things.

I would generally agree, but this one is a bit special: it's vocal-focused, has some nice features (those styles are really cool) and sounds lovely. Check the videos, you'll see what I mean.

The idea of the plugin is pretty cool, but after watching the walkthrough I think it's more like taming a wild beast than actually a "solution" tool (like their SpecCraft). If the main controls don't stick, you have to keep tweaking it until it works the way you want. At that point, you could have done it through normal EQ and compression already.

I'd rather stick Fuel to the back of the chain and just use it parallel to add that last layer of "radio ready" polish. This one by itself feels like one more pointless stop in the chain, but maybe the problem is my approach of doing very little compression in general these days.

That's a very interesting approach. I tried using OTT plugins on vocals, but the results weren’t as good as with this one.

Cramit by Sixth Sample is also worth checking out, if you haven't already.
