If you have Cubase 14 R2R, you just need to update with the Cubase available in this VR version, install only Cubase, it updates automatically, there is nothing else to do and it works very well.

Am I right in thinking that If using the R2R version I can install the legit v14.0.20 update from Steinberg direct and it will still work?

yes, I have an old r2r version of cubase 14 and that's what I do every time, I just installed this cubase version, I only install cubase, it doesn't install completely, it just updates and it works very well

It is not necessary to copy the DLL files again during an update. The emulator files are located in a folder that is not overwritten during an update.

did you follow the "instructions"? Installed these V.R. packages hundreds of times and never had an issue.

Well the instructions are:

0 Download the Latest (from steinberg website):
-Steinberg MediaBay
-Steinberg Activation Manager
-Steinberg Library Manager
1. Install the stinberg Product
2. Run V.R Unlocker.

Done!

Installed this on the test machine.

Completely uninstalled previous version (C13), Including certificates, on win10 22H2 - rebooted.

Installed this one per instructions;
All Prereq's >> C14 >> Un-locker B7

Comes up with activation manager errors. First one I have seen do this in a few years. It also seems to react with the firewall (not defender) on the test machine. No previous V.R. stuff does that. It needs a fix.

Just for giggles, removed this one completely. Installed the 14.0.10 R2R version. Worked fine. No issues. Doesn't really matter much for me since I run C13 in production anyway.

Hello, some people have a problem with the Activation Manager! I have solved the problem and renamed the file 'Steinberg Activation Manager' to 'Steinberg Activation Manager.bak'.
