That isn't what it sounds like as protection doesn't have anything to do with "audio behaviour" (tho "shouldn't" might be more accurate.) If I had to guess, I'd say it had to do with the demo-ing of plugins, but everything reads as before in regards to their 14-day unrestricted demo period... so that's good, and I haven't noticed anything odd when popping up demo/unlicensed plugins. The mystery remains...
