Quetzalcoatl is an 8 layer sample playback plugin (VST/AudioUnit) for Mac OS, Windows & Linux (support currently limited to Ubuntu 22+). It performs traditional rompler duties, excelling at pads and evolving textures (or whatever else you fancy), but can also be used for melodic and sequenced material thanks to its comprehensive modulation/sequencing options. In this sense, you can think of it as a kind left-field groovebox.

Quetzalcoatl is inspired by the Aztec deity that shares its name. Quetzalcoatl (known to the Maya as Kukulkan), represents wisdom, art and the wind.

An expanded version with additional sounds and presets is available for a small fee.

Quetzalcoatl is built with HISE, an open source framework for sample based instruments.

I usually dont care for Romplers, the samples usually sound bad, or the files become way too large to get anywhere near sounding decent.

But maybe this is the issue.
That the fidelity limitations are suited for TEXTURES.
Not for traditional instrument banks. THIS sounds good.

I would emphasize this ability.
Make it pleasingly drag and drop.

I would even make the factory samples optional, let me just turn that off. Because its proving to be a little bit of a minor pain trying to install them and redirect folders and whatnot, to make the nag notice go away.

Preset AX6 is a fine example of what this thing can do.
It sounds like Spacecraft.

Put better preset handling in it.
I can barely see anything in that tiny little box, its silly.
Just put a decent window somewhere, that can ne read and capable of navigating. QOL stuff.

What are those the VST3 file and the installer for? Should I use it interchangeably? Does the installer include samples and presets? It is a big file. Those links are not described clearly.
