Their room was pretty basic, have they changed algorithms?

Do you mean bx_rooMS? It's a different product.
bx_aura is a new plugin, version 1.0 was released today.
bx_rooMS in its version 1.0 was released in 2016.

bx_Rooms is actually a solid reverb. I own it and wasn't shocked when I found out years later that Thomas Fiedler (Fiedler Audio,) had a hand in creating it. Aura is definitely not on par with bx_Rooms, in my less-than-humble opinion.

in 2024 this isn't considered basic anymore, it's bad. I havent fully tested it but just the reverb time multiplier alone is bad (or a scam ?). It reacts more like a shelving EQ than it actually is a RT multiplier. Just some random basic algo with all those EQs, ducking, saturation etc on top of it. Quick turn off.

Looks like shinny GUI snake oil reverb plugin. They not even trying to do a proper plugin with this one. Take NI Raum, that is one hell of a modern style reverb plugin, it's been ages since its out and not many new modern style reverb plugin can top that IMO.

I haven't reviewed any plugin from this company since Dirk sold it to Native instruments, it became a joke, combining plugins and call it new, take an old one and make new GUI add two more buttons as an extra feature and call it "Game Changer".... As much as i love this company and some of its old gold plugins... I don't trust what they do anymore

I'm just wondering why NI didn't take the tech from one of the best reverb algo (Exponential Audio) they own and combine it with what brainworx can do best. Izotope took it and made the Neoverb before. NI own all of those. That's why I think they not even trying here.

I agree with you on the Exponential Audio bit; I bought the R2, Nimbus, etcetera when they went on deep sale before the merger, and they're always an option if I'm not looking for character reverb or a unique IR space. I demoed the Aura (legit,) this morning and was largely unimpressed... except by the fact that they managed to once again put out a plugin that... ... what's that old-ass saying about makeup on a pig? Yeah. That. I'd say it sounds like it looks, but some people might dig these new Sci-Fi interfaces, and I don't want to risk any confusion.

In most of this I agree, however, it's worth to give a shot. On top of that it's 'no fee', possibly a win-win or win and uninstall. I'll have to see for myself.

A good overall reverb. The combination of drive and gate modules is an interesting feature.
Even better are the multiple download options! A special thank you for this hidera!!!

So team bubbix still not delivering on presets. We appreciate the efforts naturally but that's a bit of a bummer.

I assume you're on Studio One.

Default VST3 Presets for most DAWs : Documents/VST3 Presets

Studio One only list the presets from its default folder : Documents/Studio One/Presets

*assuming you didn't change it, can be accessed at StudioOne\Options\Locations\UserData on S1's Toolbar

Just manually copy everything in the VST3 Presets to the Studio One's specific folder, it will show up just fine. You need to do this everytime you install a Plugin Alliance plugin because it depends on it more than others. After you done copying, hit refresh on the plugin in the plugin browser or.. just simply restart Studio One so it will rescan all the presets for all the plugins.

This did not work for me. All my other PA plugins have their presets working just fine (from the default vst3 presets location) but aura does have no presets, even after copying the folder into the studio one folder (which doesn't even have a Plugin Alliance folder in it)

Edit: "just simply restart Studio One so it will rescan all the presets for all the plugins." was what didn't work even tho it rescanned all plugins, but right click - refresh in the Effects tab did indeed do the trick :) - seems like the normal scan at S1 startup doesn't rescan presets...

not sure if there's a settings (maybe it tied to the plugin scan) for that but S1 scans everything on start here, and I like it that way. It works for me everytime.

quote by croods2No presets, and somewhat annoying way to increase or decrease mod amount, only by scroll wheel or mouse clicks. Has some interesting stuff, but no point in keeping it. Thanks for the share. Im glad i checked it out before eventual purchase.

The presets are here. Pay more attention.

I went through the manual and there is no preset browsing section in plugin. And no presets.

if you are a reverb addict and your toolbox is already filled with the world's most popular reverb plugins, now, you want to get a new standard line for reverb plugins like Valhalla or get other surprising sounds, you will be disappointed.

so, is bx_aura a bad reverb plugin? yes and no, the answer depends on you, probability is not good enough for reverb addicts, but surprisingly good for Plugin Alliance.

some people may disagree, but for me, before this plugin came out, all the reverb plugins on the list from the Plugin Alliance group were totally shit.

bx_aura is the first Plugin Alliance group basic workflow reverb plugin of all time.
it is modern, wow, not emulation from some legendary classic 80's 90's blah blah analog hardware shit again!
finally, Brainworx helped Plugin Alliance catch the bus of the modern reverb plugin.

i put bx_aura in my toolbox, but i feel happy and

"All the reverbs"? There's three.
You have bx_Rooms, which is still a solid reverb, TAILS, which is good for what it is, and is arguably more unique and/or useful than bx_Aura, and the BM60, which solid as well, if you're okay with the fact it's essentially a bespoke loader for a quality pack of IRs.
Incidentally, taking into account your gripe about classic reverbs, the BM60 is the only one that falls into that category, and bx_Aura isn't really breaking new ground with it's Room algo compared to bx_Rooms, or it's unique options compared to Tails.

"some people may disagree, but for me"

how do their prices and ease of use or sound quality compare to like Valhalla(even free Valhalla Super Massive)?
bx_aura is the cheapest 99$, while others are 149$ and 199$, i didn't even say bx_aura was worth buying. it's just my taste.

you say they are solid, so, how many people do you think would put them in their 2023 worth buying workflow reverb plugins ranking? BM60 got only 1 total review on their website.
i have already spent time trying them, you don't need to introduce it to me again.

How many people would put them in their rankings? Dunno, if we're talking your average YT goon, probably exactly as many who got slipped cash to put them on said list. That aside, quality doesn't suddenly become subjective in the light of popular opinion, and prices aren't part of the equation since we all know that everything will be $10-30 at some point in the near future once the Next Big Shiny Thing that very few of us actually need comes along.

sorry, i really can't understand what you're saying.

you haven't answered how you compare with 50$ Valhalla, and you haven't discussed whether their higher prices are worth it.

what do you mean "YT goon"? YouTube video?
whether sisters forum, gearspace, reddit, or kvraudio award vote every year, you can easily see people discussing like "your favorite plugin?" or "plugins you are using now?". everyone can list their plugins. can you give me some lists "solid" existence?

i have already said "some people may disagree", which means i understand that there will be people like you in the world who have different views on the same plugin. i did not refute your earlier discussion on the page, because i respect everyone's taste.

so my free post of my own opinions for this new plugin hurt your self-esteem?
i'm sorry, but i WON'T change my mind.
those plugins are SHIT.

I didn't dive into price-point vs quality because—again—prices aren't part of the equation; comparing a $50 Valhalla plugin to a $250 PA plugin is completely irrelevant (case -in-point, I got an email from PA this morning with an offer to grab bx_Aura for $20, and it'll go on sale publicly for $60 soon enough, and then $50, etc.,) and has zero to do with their quality... quality which, in fact, isn't a subjective thing. I made a case for bx_Rooms because it's objectively a quality reverb; no is insisting that you like it. I didn't demo Tails more than a day because I thought it sounded plain jane, but that doesn't mean it's a bad algorithm or a useless plugin. See where I'm going with all this... or no?

As for "top" lists, that's your deal—in my experience they're not dissimilar from audio reviews, with many existing solely as a promo or push for some company who supports the publisher of the list/review (like those dopes at KVR, or far too many YT "producers"—and yes, "YT" is YouTube,) and even the lists that are legit are often without any sort of meaningful context making them a novelty instead of a help.

i don't want to make the comments to deviate from the plugin itself, as it would waste the admin's time deleting comments.

TO admin: if you think my next is like some personal attack, i am sorry for that. i have been calm, relaxed, and respectful of others' opinions from beginning to end, i am good if delete.
