Working Waldorf MicroQ ROM's included!

The Usual Suspects, the developers of the DSP56300 emulator, have dropped Vavra, a new Synthesizer plugin recreating Waldorf microQ.

Many well-known 90s virtual analog synthesizers are based on the Motorola DSP5630 DSP. For example, the Access Virus series A, B, C, TI, the Clavia Nord Lead 3, Waldorf Q, or the Novation Nova synthesizers.

Vavra is an emulation of the Waldorf microQ from 2000—one of the first virtual analog synthesizers. It featured 25 voices (expandable up to 75) with 5 oscillators per voice, two multitype filters with FM and distortion, four envelopes, three audio rate LFOs, effects, and more.

The project’s core is, once again, the DSP56300 emulation plugin. It’s available as a free download.

Vavra is currently in the beta version, a very young emulation with many teething problems.

the waldorf page has a few, and i think a few are posted here. there arent that many banks for it, most of it got lost or never made it the internet, bcs this synth was new in the 90s.

I owned the hardware device. Never liked the filters one bit, but it did have some strengths - the modulation matrix for one. You could get some really unique sounds if complicated digital harshness is your thing.

Are there no patches included in the release? The patch manager is showing 0 Patches.

i think the factory is included, otherwise the waldorf page still has them, since they are not part of the ROM for the synth, like it is for the virus synths.

Hi, there are some sites around the world...is not question of lazyness but as you know is an emulation of the old and glorious Waldorf microQ you can just google waldorf microQ patches.

The official site also at https://waldorfmusic.com/de/legacy-micro-q-series/

Of course, it is not laziness. But if Osirus and OsTirus have soundbanks why aren't they in Vavra? I never used Vavra. Anyway, thanks for the clues.

PS. I have just found this https://youtu.be/LeDMQbUL5yc?si=Ff2Iqp9kDNy8afxu
It can be useful for the others as well.

Where are you supposed to place the ROM on a Windoze installation?

Next to .dll or VST3 file

I'm on Mac..I have the Emulator working and have downloaded sounds from the Waldorf site
But I cannot get them to show up in the preset manager?
Any ideas? Tried directly in the VST folder and Drag and drop but nothing?
Any help would be appreciated..

Ahh.. Worked it out. Right click on the patch browser and you can add multiple folders.

I'm crashing when I tried to change the skin.
Had to swap the last .dll in to change the skin back.

I'm having problems changing the UI when returning to the main UI the daw simply closes and the options that should appear do not appear, when pressing the right mouse button, is there any way to restore the initial UI?

Download the last version dll, 1.3.14, from the FX or older builds repository on the homepage, swap it into your Vavra folder, change the UI back, and then swap the 1.3.15 dll back in.

Its apparently a bug. But I didn't see any way to navigate or access presets in the small UI,
so the big edit UI is probably mostly what you'll need.
