The Usual Suspects, the developers of the DSP56300 emulator, have dropped Vavra, a new Synthesizer plugin recreating Waldorf microQ.

Many well-known 90s virtual analog synthesizers are based on the Motorola DSP5630 DSP. For example, the Access Virus series A, B, C, TI, the Clavia Nord Lead 3, Waldorf Q, or the Novation Nova synthesizers.

Vavra is an emulation of the Waldorf microQ from 2000—one of the first virtual analog synthesizers. It featured 25 voices (expandable up to 75) with 5 oscillators per voice, two multitype filters with FM and distortion, four envelopes, three audio rate LFOs, effects, and more.

The project’s core is, once again, the DSP56300 emulation plugin. It’s available as a free download.

Vavra is currently in the beta version, a very young emulation with many teething problems.

Why is the ROM file a midi? I have it next to the AU and there are no presets. The Ostirus works fine.

bcs thats how waldorf supplies OS updates.
there were no factory presets in the OS ROM.

It was a Synth not Casio Thing. You had to create your own sounds.

I love the notion :), but it did/does come with preset banks A-B-C-D that get loaded into RAM during the boot sequence. The plugin works the same - if you put another MID file (like mQ_Factory_2001.mid) with sounds into the same directory where the plugin resides, they will get loaded during the boot sequence as well, but it takes 10 sec or so.

can you please state exactly what i need to have next to vavra vst3 as i cant load any banks into 1.3.14.. even those you have suggested..thx

You can have it set up in two ways: with only plugin file, mq_223.mid firmware ROM file, and the presets-banks from some other directory that you define in the preset browser ("data sources"-you have to click with the right button and click "refresh" to load the sounds-banks), or you can put some preset file (like mQ_Factory_2001.mid) into the same directory that you'd like to load at boot time. Only one will get loaded into RAM at start up, of course, but you can browse other sounds from the preset browser.

I get all sorts of errors for VAVRA, sometimes lethal crashes in FLStudio the same for OSTirus, but mainly patch manager related for this one, ctbs
