Plugin Alliance TOMO Audiolabs LISA v1.2.1 WiN-BUBBiX screenshot

A new way to apply dynamic EQ
TOMO Audiolabs’ LISA is the only tool of its kind: An all-analog dynamic EQ, featuring a dedicated opto compressor cell for each of its 6 bands. This exacting model of the original brings a new way of applying dynamic EQ to the digital domain. Now you can take advantage of the character and workflow of this boutique mastering-grade hardware in the box.

Six bands of smooth opto compression and expansion
LISA employs a dedicated, modern opto compression circuit for each of its six bands per channel. Its program-dependent compression and expansion averages around a 3:1 ratio, or a selectable 10:1 ratio—both with a soft knee, and the option to change between slow, medium and fast settings for attack and release.

Dials in like an old school EQ, controls like a high-end compressor
With a layout reminiscent of the high-end Sontec and Massenburg EQs, LISA invites an intuitive, ears-first approach to sculpting your tone. Rather than simply applying a fixed EQ curve, the extent of your cut or boost breathes and dances along with your audio. With its proportional bandwidths, deeper cuts become increasingly more narrow and surgical, while larger boosts become tighter, more precise and note-like as they increase in intensity.

A perfect complement to the master buss, and selected individual tracks
This dynamic EQ was designed with mastering applications in mind, making it perfect for controlling kick and bass without reducing low frequency extension, or enhancing them without adding undue boominess to the mix. It can reduce sibilance in vocals or harshness in cymbals without sacrificing brightness, and even precisely target specific elements in the mix, especially in mid-side mode. Use the separate mono version of the plugin to elegantly reshape single instruments like bass guitar, drums and voice.

Parallel bands for more forgiving processing
Another unique feature of LISA is its parallel circuit concept. In the conventional series wiring found in most EQs, 100% of the distortion and rectification influences the signal path. But LISA’s parallel circuitry allows individual bands to be processed in similar fashion to a mixing console, enabling more extensive, more sensitive and more subtle processing. This makes it possible to musically apply extreme EQ settings that would not be possible with a traditional EQ.

Plugin only additions including the new “TX Drive”
As always, the engineers at Brainworx have added new digital-only features that would be impossible in the analog domain. In addition to regular favorites like the Mono Maker, Stereo Width, Auto Listen, Headroom and TMT controls, the LISA adds a new feature for the first time: TX Drive. This new parameter allows you to dial in more or less transformer saturation and character, separate from the other analog characteristics of the device.

BUBBIX can you check the Looptrotter and LTL Silverbullet, latest R2R releases for both have GUI issues. Already reported to them at the post but no follow up.

Looptrotter Sa2rate - GUI Issue no top bar for A,B,C,D, reset, resize etc.
LTL Silverbullet MK2 - Black GUI (alternate gui) has missing graphic for the knobs. Double click the astronaut for alt gui if anyone want to check.
It makes no sense to say you’re not good at it. It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a monk.” You are either living as a monk or you’re not.

I gave this plugin a good long demo period for a while last year some time. You can get great sounds of it (particularly the LO BOOST), but a lot of the dynamic EQ sounds phasey, which made it unusable for me in a mastering context

Agreed. I tried this in a number of contexts. It seemed very promising, but it's very confusing. I had to figure out how to use it by watching a very old German video on YouTube with someone using the actual hardware. In the end I found it messed up my mixes more than helped them. On the other hand I don't really know what I'm doing most of the time, so take that with a grain of salt.

For mastering anything with TMT, I always use the Digital mode because those channel difference can go down to the lowest end sometimes, so Digital mode can sometimes solve that problem but for this EQ specifically, hard to not get things to not sound phasey because the processing is happening on a parallel signal and then blended together with the dry signal especially when the dynamic function is turned on and work the opposite way (comp + expand) on the nearing bands on low Q value where they overlap each other. That idea in itself smells like a lot of problem in the digital domain considering all those band were already split per band for processing, summed back to full frequency then summed again with the dry signal if you think about it.

I don't know if it's an issue for its analog counterpart but for DSP that needs special type of phase management to keep things intact. Something like the Fabfilter's Dynamic Phase (on Pro-Mb) or just simply linear phase should do the job but it will then it will be not true to the hardware and obviously respond differently and sound different.

Yeah this plugin flows about as well as an accounting lecture. It takes me right out of a creative state of mind.
