The Usual Suspects Vavra (DSP56300 Emulator) 1.3.10 MultiOS + ROM's [FREE] screenshot
v1.3.10 | 121MB/260MB/659MB | (VST2/VST3/AU/CLAP/LV2)+FX | Win/macOS/LiN
Motorola DSP563xx Emulation.
Working Waldorf MicroQ ROM's included!

The Usual Suspects, the developers of the DSP56300 emulator, have dropped Vavra, a new Synthesizer plugin recreating Waldorf microQ.

Many well-known 90s virtual analog synthesizers are based on the Motorola DSP5630 DSP. For example, the Access Virus series A, B, C, TI, the Clavia Nord Lead 3, Waldorf Q, or the Novation Nova synthesizers.

Vavra is an emulation of the Waldorf microQ from 2000—one of the first virtual analog synthesizers. It featured 25 voices (expandable up to 75) with 5 oscillators per voice, two multitype filters with FM and distortion, four envelopes, three audio rate LFOs, effects, and more.

The project’s core is, once again, the DSP56300 emulation plugin. It’s available as a free download.

Vavra is currently in the beta version, a very young emulation with many teething problems.

(Vavra is currently in the beta version, a very young emulation with many teething problems.)

Fazit: Unfortunately the Vavra doesn't recognize any ROMs, I can't add them, it doesn't load any presets, why? I have installed everything correctly

read the FAQ, works fine for me here.
If you want to supply something, you can. PM is open for that.

Hi, I read the FAQ at https://dsp56300.wordpress.com/faqs/#vavra-vst-au-clap-faq-microq but this doesn't mention anything about how to load Presets on Mac or indeed what to do if they don't show up? With their other [great] emulator the ROM's go in the directory where the plug-in is - with this one that doesn't work.

If you could point me - and some others it seems - to the FAQ that does explain how to load the presets - or where to put them, that would be great. In the preset loading screen I've found the right-mouse click add button and pointed it towards the midi rom included but they still don't show up

If you have any suggestions that would be great and thank-you for your contributions and indeed this upload

The included .mid is only a system thing that you have to put in the same folder as the plugin - no roms/banks in this release, as far as I understand. I used the roms/banks that were shared in a previous Vavra post and loaded them using the audio2009 tip! It worked!

PS: this thing sounds phenomenal!!! (for my taste).

Open the preset browser in Vavra. Click on the "add source data". Browse to the directory with your *.mid MicroQ presets. Done. If you want some presets to load at startup just put it in Vavra's folder. I have mQ_factory_2001.mid there. Also the MicroQ ROM/OS file mq_2_23.mid has to be there for it to function properly. Cheers!

Doesn't see patches

Yes, the preset window is not working for me either. I was able to load the patches that came with another release, but they do not show in the patch window (I can access them only by using the next/previous buttons, unfortunately).

PS: read audio2009 comment bellow. It worked!!! On the patches window, right click on "data sources", then add folder, look for the folder you have your banks. Done!!!!

in my system win 10, 64, right mouse button, click on "data sources", add folder, search for your folder with all files and lo and behold: all patches and categories appears.
maybe there is another way? what is your experience?

I used Terratec Komplexer VST years ago which sounded nice, even better than Largo if my audio memory serves me well, but when I heard Vavra and started editing... I can't tell you how happy this shyte makes me. I could make music just with Vavra and Osirus... the multitimbral capability makes them 32 ch monster VA synths. so easy to edit sounds on the fly.
But I choose not to use only these. Why smother one's creativity?

All the presets are there but they do not play any sound.
The MIDI light doesn't blink to show it is receiving midi input.
