Host / DAW Support

Playing with it for a while, it's just lovely. I'm confident that it's not going to time bomb on me. Best arpeggiator out there.

I might have to bite the bullet like joe_sleaze and actually buy the app. The dev. deserves my money, for sure.

OK, I spoke too soon. I just reopened it and I get the message 'Invalid version of Stepic's Max device. Please update the plug-in or contact the support.'

The VST is still working fine. It's just the Max4Live version that's blown up on me. But the Max4Live version is the one that makes it great.

Edit: Damn. On re-launching the DAW, the damn thing seems to be working fine again. I'll keep an eye on it though.

Edit 2: OK, it appears that an older version of Stepic Max4Live seems to have snuck into my Max4Live user folder. When I first installed it, everything seemed to be working fine, but the installer puts it deep into the bowels of your user folders, so I made a copy in a more accessible place.

Not sure how it happened, but I ended up with two Max4Live versions, one of which worked well, the other one wouldn't work. They had different creation dates. Check what I say below about being sure that you've deleted all previously installed versions. I think I must have overlooked a copy.

Finally, more DAWS have been included to work with this epic piece of soft. Finally a regular purchase is suitable, at least for me.

How do I activate it? It says not activated.

Mine was just activated on installation. Did you have an old version that wasn't fully removed? Some of the earlier versions weren't fully cracked and if you have some pieces of one of those still hanging around, you'll get the time out.

Those auto-uninstall programmes like BCUninstaller and Revo won't cut it either. This app installs stuff to unusual places. I use Everything as my file search engine, do a full search for all files with Stepic in the name, and Devicemeister, so that you locate all the folders. Then when you're sure you've got all the old stuff deleted, just install the new app. It goes in already registered and doesn't even bother asking to connect to an external server.

Cubase 12 freezes when I try loading a saved project file with StepicVST added. Anyone else having this issue ?

I think the latest installer must place the amxd in a different place to the previous installer (least the one I used anyway).

This is a beast of a device. Feed one instance of Stepic into another for more possibilities. A definite purchase.

I'm interested in your comment about feeding one Stepic into another. What are you doing with that? Are you using it to modify notes or to screw with the automation? Can you give us an example of what you're doing here?

I've only had one very simple go trying the new midi play mode, but it was to make an evolving arp pattern.

So I inserted 2 max devices on the same track. Call the left one "Master", the right one "Slave" for ease.

Master I set notelength to Whole. Slave I sent notelength to 1/8.

Slave I enabled the new feature Midi Play. Note latch on. Note in mode arpeggiator. Note inscale to nearest.

Hit the dice button for pitch and octave on both master and slave.

Added an instrument on a different track and took the midi from the Stepic track.

I'm using the VST in FLStudio 20, and i can't make the automation section working: no MIDI CC messages are sent. I have other VST which sends MIDI CC messages flawlessy.
Am i missing some setting in Stepic, or this cracked version don't send them?
