Ardour v7.5.0 [WIN/MAC/LINUX] x64 RETAIL screenshot
RETAIL | DATE: 26 July 2023 | SiZE: 378 MB
Ardour's source code is free, but the pre-compiled, ready-to-use program is paid.

Record, Edit, and Mix on Linux, macOS and Windows.

Ardour is an open source, collaborative effort of a worldwide team including musicians, programmers, and professional recording engineers. Development is transparent — anyone can watch our work as it happens. Like a good piece of vintage hardware, you can open the box and look inside. Of course, you don't have to … but one day the fact that anybody can will be useful.

New Features in Ardour 7.5.0

- Tempo Map Editing
- Sections Elements
- Saving I/O Connections Per Device
- Renaming Processors
- Control Surfaces

Improvements in Ardour 7.5.0

- Playhead can now be used as a snapping target. There's a "Playhead" item in the grid mode drop-down list and a toggle in the "Preferences" dialog on the "Editor / Snap" page.
- Playhead is now insensitive to mouse events by default (can be changed in a configuration file manually)
- Performance improvements: faster playlist rendering of non-overlapping MIDI Regions and faster duplication of multiple regions.
- The "Appearance/Editor Waveform section" of the "Preferences" dialog has been split into a separate page to reduce the vertical size of the dialog.
- Session archiving now has progress display and can be aborted.
- Toggling selected track solo status in the Mixer is now accessible via keybindings (s by default).
- Multiple non-editor commands are now undoable, such as recording and playlist switch.
- Freewheel exporting on Windows works faster now.
- Rarely used meter types like K-meters can now be used with tracks.
- Region layering is now retained for cut/copy/paste.
- Playlist paste now always pastes on top.
- Time-stretching can now be started from the left side of a region.
- The virtual keyboard now has F5 through F8 shortcuts to select note velocity presets.
- Added Roland SonicCell MIDNAM file.
- The Dummy backend now has a real-time option.
- New preferences options on the "Appearance / Colors" page allow disabling the use of color palette to assign colors to new tracks, buses, or VCAs.
- Markers are now properly themable and use color names.
- Delaylines have been optimized, multiple-MIDI buffers are possible now.

Quoted from Ardour's FAQ page:
"You are free to do anything with it that you want (including use it on as many machines as you wish, make copies of it for friends)."

But please do consider supporting the developer if you like it. You can get it for as little as $1.

Was having same thought about Pro Tools & Reaper as main DAW.

So far DSP & Sound Engine are much improved over previous version.

Running 48kHz/24 bit session with 53 tracks using my old Edirol/Roland FA-101 Firewire interface. Only DAW so far that completely recognized the modded Windows 8.1 driver.
(Excellent interface with abandoned i/o)

Sound spectrum is well defined. Adding plugins will be the acid test. Will DSP stay under comtrol??

Maybe it's time for an Ardour AudioSex thread...

In the description, it said a lot of things but failed to mention that this is a DAW. I mean it is a DAW, right? Had to reread it over again to make sure I didn't miss anything. Huge oversite if you ask me.

I don't know, the image kinda screams "THIS IS A DAW" to me.

What do we have to do to get the pluggins to work without it being in demo mode? I was under the impression that this software was cracked and ready to go. It keeps on dropping down a menu to register the pluggins.

these are retail installer. no protections. no cracks. no activation's needed. just install.
I'm not sure what kind of demo mode you're getting.

Unregistered Harrison plugins in Ardour 7 fix

1. Download & extract Harrison Mixbus32C v9.0.1 Incl Patched and Keygen-R2R
2. Run Setup Mixbus 32C 9 v9.0.1.exe (do not launch yet)
3. Run Mixbus_Keygen.exe (in the R2R folder as administrator), click Register All Products)
4. In file manager, go to >C:\Program Files\Harrison\Mixbus 32C 9\lib\ardour9\LV2\ & use
Control A to select all files then Control C to copy
5. Next, go to >C:\Program Files\Ardour7\lib\ardour7\LV2\ & use Control P to paste copied
files here

Open a session in Ardour & add a plugin from the Harrison category. You should now get the drop down menu with your registered system username.

The following two folders should be copied & archived to the Ardour 7 download/stored location for future install if needed.
>C:\Program Files\Harrison\Mixbus 32C 9\lib\ardour9\LV2\ folder
>C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\

The following Mixbus 32C folders can now be deleted to reclaim disk space.
>C:\Program Files\Harrison
>C:\Users\NECjr\AppData\Local\Mixbus9\

I have tested this DAW for the first time (don't want to pay for free software prior to use, i support those afterwads) and i'm very impressed. But lack of freeze track functionality (can freeze audio, but not instrument / midi tracks) is show stopper for me. I also don't like in-place midi editing, but otherwise i like it very much.

use the open source model to get free labour and then make money off it like it's commercial software for a mediocre daw. pass

Perhaps you'd prefer to develop your own free DAW? But wouldn't you want a little something back if it was taking up all your time?

While this is available for free if you know what you're doing (it's only paid for pre-compiled versions), what about Harrison Mixbus? Mixbus is a premium DAW based on / built from the free Ardour; throw in a few tweaks and then they charge for it. Is that not a worse model? Everyone's out to make money.
Patience, respect & gratitude - Always
