"using advanced neural networks and a meticulous sampling process" ???!?

PR bullshitting reaching new heights, that's the only thing that is for certain.

On first impression, kinda like this one. First of their plugin that sounds good after they moved to the AI territory. Finally!

CPU usage is acceptable, it's equal to Arturia's Dist TUBE-CULTURE on "Render" quality, around 4-5% (on my system of course) which is okay but Overloud GEM Sculptube only need less than 1% with similar distortion type. Another plugin to compare with is Soundtoys Decapitator on T & P mode that clocked around 2% CPU usage, no OS ofcourse.

It's cool, and can do wide range of fancy "pleasing" distortion playing with all the knobs even it's limited. That famous Culture Vulture style hairy gritty distortion on drum is easily achievable with some clever gain staging. It can be more awesome if it has Gate function built in. Don't mind me I gate everything.

CAREFUL because it can get real loud unless you're on Reaper with that sweet AutoMute function. Gain range is weird, Input/Output, DRY-MIX knobs behavior is not what you expect or used to. There's also volume jump when you switch mode from T (triode) to P1 & P2 (pentode). P1 seems to be super loud compared to the other 2.

A phase flip function is needed because mixing the WET signal with DRY can sometimes kill the low thump along the way and it sounds a lot like phase cancellation to me. Adjusting the HPF can help sometimes, the range of the knobs are weird af too. The plugin is doing a little modulation on the low end which I assume the "transformer emulation" stuff. On plugin doctor you can only see it if you set the PD to 8x OS, I believe the plugin is running at that sample rate internally.

I'd prefer the Arturia's version for its added Dynamic and Tilt EQ that proved to be super useful for tone shaping, at least to me. Sound quality wise, all 4 plugins are good quality, usable and have some minor differences, it depends on one's taste and workflow I guess.

Thanks for your test, very appreciated. I will stick with the Overloud Gem Sculptube. Overloud in general is brilliant in low CPU usage. And actually I never saw a ValveTube that neede AI to sound good! :-)

I have using it for tha last 5 years. Yes. Organic, Deep as Helll=.... From subltle pleasant mojo to crazy distortions, since it got two nice parameters - Bias and Drive

VCult is based on a unique distortion/coloring box: The Vulture Culture. It can range from subtle distortion to more obvious color and character. The distortion is derivative of multiple tubes including 6AS6 as the main source. This library will give the flexibility between adding weight and color or obvious tone shaping.

Two separate library presets included: T and P6. Preset P6 is inherently darker, rounder, warmer, and even fuller than preset T. T is more subtle but also has the potential to be more obvious but differing from P6 in that it maintains certain "fidelity". Ohhhh I love Nebula. I never touched the originalk beast....but this Nebula's Kernells Rocks
