It still is the best besides soundminer. and the guy behind it seems to be a cool dude.
with statements like "basehead will NEVER encrypt your metadata, your metadata is yours and not ours to steal!".
like soundminer did, those bloody fkers.
one thing for me is a huge annoyance: I hate the animations whenever i click anything.
ok, I get it, developers background is that he comes from gaming.. but now after some 15 years its time to grow up and make the animations a preference setting.

Find License Request.exe in the Basehead program folder. Run it.
Use keygen per BTCR. Generate key.Take license.key and put in
Documents>Basehead 5.x>Licenses. Done. Activated and working.

License Request.exe was in the subfolder: '...\Program Files\BaseHead\License Request\'

To get the free version to work properly and log in, I had to do this...

Check the Hosts file for an entry for "wyday.com"
If present, temporarily comment it out with a "#" at the begining of the line and resave Hosts file, as it uses this server address to check account and licence details.

I'm not sure how I feel about allowing Basehead Ultra access to this!
IF they're checking accounts/licences online just to open/use the thing, surely they would be able to cross-reference to their own list of valid licences and, in turn, disable it from working?

Assuming you have followed all instructions to 'cure' the program, BTCR additionally had this to say:
NOTE: Some cloud functionality obviously won't work however
you can connect up a BaseHead account to download the free
cloud packs. Do this under a VPN and use a temp account for
obvious reasons.


P.S. It's easier to use a Hosts manager to make quick changes, switch hosts, or enable/disable specific lines. I used the one in Microsoft PowerToys.
