Glad to see they are constantly updating it to use less CPU etc.

Thanks for letting us know there's a new version again! ❤️

I tried it a long time ago and it was very heavy on my CPU... Perhaps I try this new version

This is still v 1.2.25 according to the website and the downloadable files though, not 1.1.29.

Strange. 🤷🏼

It's still beta and you can download it from the beta folder if you press "here" there. Beta or not, so far their betas have proved to be very reliable. I gave it a go and in this short period of few hours it works great. I haven't found any regressions. That doesn't mean there aren't any.

Thank you Articstorm for heads up! DSP56300 updates always make me happy!

Exactly.....so where comes this 1.1.29 update from?

Can someone explain what this means in a practical way to know how to use it (especially the first point)?

* Osirus can now boot from OS update .mid files. ROM binaries are no longer required if a pair of ``first....mid`` and ``...second...1024.mid `` files are found next to the plugin. The second file is optional. If Osirus is booted with the first file only, no ROM presets are available

* Patch Browser can now load presets from .vstpreset, .fxb and .fxp files, including those saved by the Access Virus TI Control Center and the Access Virus PowerCore

you can use mid files and bin files as ROM files.

I love seeing the development for this. For me, it was kind of like trying out nebula plugins, in that I loved the sound, but it slowed my system to a crawl. It doesn't seem like Nebula has improved that much over the years. Instead, people literally go and upgrade their computers just to use Nebula because they love the sound so much...

I will continue to follow the updates for this one and try it every few updates to see how my system handles it. So far it's the best Virus emulation I've heard, and one of the best, thickest synth emulations I've heard. I'm rooting for the developer!

its not really an emulator for the virus specific, but more like emulates the DSP chip, which runs the Virus ROM. So it sounds just like the hardware minus the DAC of course. So it is as close as one could get.

CPU has been massively reduced since first public release.

If you are rooting for the developer, feels free to come to the discord and donate.

If it ain't loud? I don't wanna hear it!

Thanks for this :-) is it still limited to one rom in the same folder as the vst3 osirus plugin?
It would be great to be able to load/switch Roms from the drop down (top right) and just have all your Roms in one folder. Hopefully that will come in future or is it possible to save Presets from different Roms and they will recall OK no matter what Rom is in the plugin folder?

I found that, even renaming ROMs and Plugins, I was only able to use more than one version by using VST3 for one and VST2 for the other.

I was running Virus B as Vst2 (for lower CPU use) and Virus C as Vst3.

I really don't see much need for using more than the two, unless there are hidden things that no one has mentioned

Thanks very much, great tip. I've only just worked out how to browse the many Syx Presets downloaded from here and that helps and seems easy enough and only just realised that you sorted them all out nicely so thanks again, very much appreciated

1.25.29 does not validate on MacOSX running Monterey.
1.2.25 works fine.
Thank you for all your hard work. I appreciate it.

can you load mid presets to Viper vst?

I wonder about the ROMs.
It seems (by HASH) there are duplicates.

LIKE THIS

When I began using this i was confused by the ROMs, and then found the same hashes and wondered even more...
If they are truly duplicates, why not remove them?
Is there something I am not getting about them?

Yes there are only 5 different ROMs. I ran hashing a while ago, too.

I settled for only two: Virus C v6.5 and Virus C Rack XL v6.5.

I compared content of ROM files, Ver T and Gmbh are duplicates others are not %100 same files. There is default patch list difference and some patches are not working or have filter differences with some ROM's. I dont remember what versions but pratically only 2 ROM versions have clear differences. If you compare patch lists of ROM's you can notice.
