too much cpu

the dev mentioned that everything is made real-time so this plugin can be used for tracking. That should explain the high CPU usage. It doesn't sound bad but I feel like a little more controls such as calibration, headroom etc should be useful. It can be too distorted at high compression. Some people may like it that way.

The Arturia version use a bit less CPU (10% less) and sounds a lot better to me even when smashed to death or use gently for vocals. Softer and rounder. I'll stick with that one.

Shouldn't a real-time plugin be less demanding on CPU?

Not neccessarily. The main requirement is that it does not add latency... or adds very little. Sometimes there are just no ways around using the CPU.

I'm still lost when it comes to this, some plugin increase and some reduce, same goes with latency and oversampling, some plugin reduce latency at higher oversampling, most of them will add. Sample rate too. I think it depends on how it is coded.

I have since tested this plugin and it is low on CPU on my machine. What are people running it on? A potato?

it will be interesting to see how this tech progresses, good times for us audio freaks! gonna test it

This plugin sounds great, just a bit high on the cpu especially since the video says it's low on CPU, but someone explain this thing to me, when I place one instance of it the cpu goes up, but when I add a 2nd one and then a 3rd one, the cpu consumption doesnt go up stays the same, untill I add more of it then it would jump again, can someone please explain how that works?
and I noticed the same thing happened with Plugin Alliance plugins.

Each instance is assigned to a separate core, if you look at an actual performance monitor, not just the DAW monitor, you will see each new instance affect an individual core, when it jumps it's when it's enough instances to double up on an individual core. Audio CPU processing is weird

Nice I never knew that and always asked myself the same about some plugs. Thanks!

This plugin sounds good tho! I'm really excited for the next plugins with A.I. based technology!

it would be nice if you dial in the saturation separately from the compression, a lot seems to be happening at low gain reduction settings, I'm fairly sure the hardware doesn't do that?

It's based on heavily modded hardware

Arturia sounds better to me ... I love using it on instrument buses

Probably TOO "saturation oriented".
Because AI learning is more efficient for it (Kemper, Nebula ...)

But dynamic is more "curve transfer" oriented.
And algos are better for this.

My recipe for years : use "regular" Compressors, EQ ... and add saturation with another plugin (Nebula, Acqua ...)
