WARNING!!!!
backup your hosts file before installing, Aurora DSP legit installer likes to delete your Windows hosts file!

Hopefully any good guy with some free time could bypass it.
It makes no sense to say you’re not good at it. It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a monk.” You are either living as a monk or you’re not.

Hmm... I have never experienced this with any Aurora software.

Are you talking about releases here on Audioz, or about legit installers? I have both legit Aurora plug-ins, R2R and V.R releases installed, and I've never had any issues. Maybe it depends on if you have the Aurora website blocked in your host file (I don't, as it has not been needed for the k'ed versions)?

yeah, their legit installers are known for doing that.

Here's the plugin (Win) unpacked.
Just copy/move the plugin files to respective folders.
VST3:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

AAX:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins

Original installer has a size of 40,5MB (who knows why),
the unpacked plugins only have 20,9MB (7,3MB compressed).

I assume Stevie is referring to the Windows hosts file, located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. You can use it to block Windows (and programs running therein) from accessing websites that you prescribe. Some teams installers will do this for you to stop apps from calling home.
To back it up, before installing this plugin just copy the hosts file to another location, then after installing check the one in that folder against the copy you made. If they're different just copy your backup back to the hosts folder.

Is this based on the Boss FA-1 Fet preamp? The controls and visual layout are similar. Does it have a switch for low-cut or flat?

It's based on the TC Electronic Integrated Preamplifier. It's a pedal that Meshuggah has been using for ages, and the pedal that Fortin Grind/33 (and a whole heap of other pedals) is based on.

It could very well be that the TC Integrated Preamp is based on the FA-1, but it's not so easy to find info on it.

Good idea to back up the hosts file individually before installing this to save a couple of minutes of time if it gets deleted, but keep in mind:
There should be no great worry about backing up the hosts file, IF YOU BACK UP YOUR WHOLE SYSTEM ON A REGULAR BASIS.
The hosts file will be consistent with programs installed at the time of the backup.

BACK UP YOUR WHOLE SYSTEM ON A REGULAR BASIS.

Serious question, no disrespect meant.

If this is a transparent clean boost, then why not just use a simple Gain plugin and a way more versatile EQ already built into any DAW?

I understand if you want a particular modeled device color--but if it is just a clean boost it seems unnecessary beyond a nice GUI.

Your squiggly-lined pictures of audio voodoo don't tell me anything, No Avenger; the only response that matters is the answer to everyone's burning question: Is it faster, shinier, and more capable than ProQ 3? How about Kirchhoff?
(Seriously? It didn't delete my Host File either, but I'm working offline, so that may be the reason? It seems that it'd get changed/deleted if I were online or offline, if it happens at all, though...)
