Any production machine not on own Speedfan or similar software curves is doing it wrong. Really, all machines should have Speedfan or similar booting with Windows. That being said, critical modern hardware such as the CPU has thermal awareness with protection. GPUs are similarly protected and won't be harmed at all guaranteed, outside of you over-volting it yourself, which has nothing to do with this product. It was just funny to me to see a product (free or not, not the point) write that. heh

I will tell you my impressions about this utility.
At first, I was very surprised by the huge size and long installation. Then I tried to load a rap track with a vocal sample as a melody into it (this was done to complicate the task for the program since there is both a flow and a vocal sample).
3 minutes of the track were processed according to my feelings for 6 minutes. By the way, I have an intel core i7 6500U (this is a laptop 2 cores 4 threads processor). During processing, my CPU did not heat up above 59 degrees (note that this is a laptop, not a full-fledged PC cooling system).
I was very surprised by the result! Both the vocal sample and the flow itself were cut as perfectly as mp3 quality allows! And without any artifacts that Izotope RX likes to make.
I chose MDX-net and Vocals Only.
My conclusions are that this is a very awesome utility for removing vocals. It is also worth noting that the utility perfectly captures vocals in both side and mono.
I recommend everyone to try and give feedback on how it works for you.

Thanks for that review, I wasn't going to try it on my 4 core cpu (amd ryzen 3200g, decent cooling system) but now I'll give it a try and just watch my temps.

does it remove /isolate music as well

does it have the option to remove either music/vocals and convert to wav format ?

Yes it can remove stems.In 3 different formats Flac,MP3 and Wav.

UVR is better at removing vocals or isolating vocals than anything that already exists. However, RipX does, in my opinion, a better job at creating stems from songs. I think you can get both of best worlds if you use them together.

Yes. LALAL.AI is overpriced, UVR is free and open source and has way more options, better trained AI models and your results will be better because you can decide which models to use for each specific scenario.

Basically ''ensemble mode'' works best, where you combine different algorithms, which is unique to UVR.

The higher the SDR rate, the better it performed.

This is a fantastic piece of kit. I've used Spleeter and RipX up to now and this one can produce an instrumental which sounds complete (i.e. melodies which occur while vocals are sung tend to disappear as a result of the processing of the other two brands so the end result is not always great).

I can't believe this is free!

Can you use it on a virtual maschine on MAC? Maybe too cpu heavy? Want to use it for isolate drums. LALAL.AI is working good I think. Using a transient master to reduce the artifacts but it would be great if there is a better free option.

Hmm why didn't anyone told me that it is a MAC version .. Gonna try it now..

What??? I tried one a vocal remove now on my mac... IT really takes time and I don't know which settings I shall use for the best result BUT... the result I got was remarkable. LALAL.AI is a joke comapared to UVR.... What a software... Aand its FREEEEE...

Choose Demucs model: There are three that can work with drums, I recommend "mdx_extra"
Choose Stem(s): Drums

Check box if you want to keep either only drums or only the rest (drums out).

Thanks, have been using Demucs v4 htdemucs & htdemucs_ft and the result is really really good. Something I wonder though why the software say that I have to use 2 models when I just isolating the drums? I used mdx_extra also for some of the drums isolations.

I have used Average/Average as Ensemble Algorithm. Is it the best setting?
