Soft Limit has been an integral feature of Apogee converters since the AD-500, our first standalone A-D converter released in 1991. And now, for the very first time, this simple but highly effective analog tape emulation is available as a free audio plugin.

During development of the AD-500, we recognized that, while the new digital audio technology offered superior performance and lower distortion, the technical deficiencies of analog tape created a pleasing sound that engineers didn’t want to give up. And so Soft Limit was created, an analog circuit placed before the A-D conversion stage to gracefully round transients and add harmonic warmth.

Soft Limit has been a feature on pretty much every Apogee A-D converter since, from the AD-8000 to Symphony I/O to the latest Duet 3.

Hm, all the great ToneBoosters legacy plugins are 42mb,

Neytcev, 111mb is just for the mac installer. All windows formats comes to about 42mb.

are just several MBs and work flamy, i'm so impressed
with the strategy and their clever algorithms, still awesome.

I mean a tape does clip and saturate, which is what they were going for, and what they mean by limiter is basically soft clipper, or emulating when a tape gets pushed so hard you start clipping the edges of your waveform.

Thanks for the release but I'll stick to Newfangled Saturate.

Installer says: What’s New in Version 1.0.14?

- Resolves issues with meters
- Resolves issue with delay compensation
- Resolves issue with latency
- Resolves issue with DAWs crashing
- Resolves issue with plugin opening in mono on stereo tracks in FL Studio
- Resolves issue settings not being saved

Additionally the oversampling has been improved compared to 1.0.11
