Works for me 70 percent of the time.
In any case, I have to open and close the standalone every time before I can open kontakt in Cubase, otherwise Cubase crashes.
But if I open the standalone first, it works 70 percent of the time.

Two or three versions of Kontakt ago, I was on cutting edge C++ 2015-2022 Redistibutable and I had no issue. Everybody else did, initially. I am still on patch version 2 as this post is downloading, but I have no problems in Cubase or Nuendo. It DOES have issue when unchecking "Always on top" in the Nubases. The GUI disappears and it leaves just the DAW container.

It's about how you patch. Depending on the changes made, a binary that was already patched could or could not be repatched a second time and have success. Old changes do not get reverted to original, unless the patch goes the extra mile to check and make it so. So, patch the original files only.

That all does not apply if the patcher is just dropping files by overwriting them entirely.

You and everybody else want the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable 14.34.31823.3 x64 version.

Edit: Pro Tools now loads well and it doesn't report illegal instruction any longer. The SAL and VST3 loaded well. As far as I can tell at this point, it is functioning perfectly and all ibraries are shown in the classic view. Thanks. It's appreciated much.

I dont use standalone version, Native.Instruments.Kontakt.7.v7.0.11.WiN-bobdule.Rev2 VST3 working in Cubase 12.0.30 without any problem. You can try to use with VST wrapper plugins like DDMF Metaplugin or Blue Cat's Patchwork.

For anyone on Cubase 12, if I uninstall kontakt 6.7.1 bobdule and install this, will all my libraries show up? Also, more importantly, do I have to redo my entire template with like 400 instances of kontakt or will kontakt 7 recall the saved kontakt 6.7.1 settings in my Cubase project file? Its mostly orchestral stuff, but I have some tracks, like cinematic studio series that use the custom legato timing script that I would have to redo; also the Art Conductor 8 expression maps for Cubase have some kontakt scripts to make some of them work. Do I have to redo everything or will kontakt 7 recall previous saved settings? I would test it out but I don't want to break anything because I'm a student and have songs due every other week....

It's a new plugin ID, you have to replace all instances and start from scratch, sorry to say. You can keep both versions and take your time updating your template. I will only upgrade to 7 when a library I can't live without requires the new version.

Ok thanks for the heads up . I'll probably just wait until winter break then upgrade to kontakt 7 and redo my template then. Unless I can have both 6 and 7 at the same time, but people said cubase only allows 1 even if you change the file names .

If plugin name is exactly same Cubase might load plugin but it may not load settings/loaded instruments. In years i lost many VST/VSTI settings, there is newer versions of plugins but Cubase only shows lost plugin names. Your solution is, save Kontakt multis that time you can open with newer version of Kontakt. Cubase is ignoring same plugins different versions but you can use with DDMF Metaplugin or other VST wrappers.

Always save VST/VSTI settings with plugins, never save as VST/VST 3 presets, dont trust saved Cubase templates or Cubase projects cause when you update something Cubase going to stab your back.

Am I missing something or is there no VST2 for this version?

I only ask because I use a VST3 version on my main rig, but use a VST2 version of 6.7 on my backup rig because I use the MPC Software on it to Autosample for my MPC. MPC software only reads VTS2 at present (backwards I know).

I am more than happy to stick with the 6.7 on my backup rig for now, but I was just checking.

Installer have VST3 and AAX plugins, there is no VST2 plugin. You can use VST3 plugins in VST2 supported host/DAW with VST wrapper plugins like DDMF Metaplugin.

Thanks. I have tried that a few times already and in the MPC software it is really sketchy. I think it is just inherently unstable lol

i didnt try MPC but i'm using Metaplugin in OBS for live streaming, if its working well with streaming software it might work well with MPC.

This is brilliant. So NI Komplete Kontrol doesn't support VST3, so it doesn't support Kontakt 7. Geez.

K7 works very well in Komplete kontrol vst3 (studio one 5.5.2 under W10) or standalone.

Weird one for me: the previous version (Rev 2) worked perfectly but I installed this anyway as I assumed newer version = better. Unfortunately now the standalone doesn't open (VST3 in Cubendo still works fine.)

EDIT: And now Kontakt 7 is crashing Cubendo :(

How to use v.6 and v.7 on same machine, since they use different vst3 plugins?
My Studio One 5.5.2 use only one of them (last installed).
Can someone explain me how to do it.

the new plugin is called Kontakt 7.vst3, it has a different name and I see them as 2 different instruments.

You can use the tools of 6.6.1 to add libraries for example.
These will appear in version 6.6.1 and in Kontakt 7 as well...

Happily, I see both Kontakt 6 (or as it is Kontakt) and Kontakt 7 VST3's in Cubase (V.R) and they both seem to work great, no crash from either
