PG-8X is a VST instrument plug-in, inspired by the JX-8P. The GUI is modelled after the pg-800, which is the external editor for the JX-8P. pg-8x is patch-compatible to the hardware, which means that JX-8P SysEx files are accepted.

You run two separate patches which is what the JX10/MKS 70 does. Yes, you can run identical patches, but that kind of defeats the purpose, but was done on the JX10/MKS 70 at times as well. I'd detune the second patch a bit in that circumstance.

Always loved this plugin!
I still have my real, semi-working, JX-8P in the closet.
Martin's PG-8X is easily one of the absolute best synth recreations ever.
It's like Roland made this one themselves.

If I had any programmings skills, I'd port this over to M1 for him as a thank you. There's still an unassuming donation button on the bottom of his page if anyone else wants to support him.

You load syx in the plugin / fxp's depending on your daw - eg: cubase + studio one

I used to own the hardware and this one sounds really great. Unfortunately no way to run it anymore on my m1 in a native daw.
