Finally something new from Auburn! Could be a great alternative to Sonible Smart:Comp ProAudioDSP DSM v3, especially since they have this free version :)

I doubt that it will be as advanced as Smart:Comp, but the difference in price could make it worth it. Remains to be seen if the difference in FFT-size (64 vs 2048) makes a huge difference or not.

In the free version the Expander section is disabled.
It doesn't claim to be based on AI.
The amount of bands (Selectivity) has a heavy impact on the sound.
The handling is somewhat inconsistent and uncomfortable.
With all 64 bands active it's quite CPU hungry (like 7 bands of free TDR Nova in dynamic mode).

BUT, with highest Selectivity and internal sidechain it's capable to produce some very nice sounds. Me likes.

Agree. It's a great free alternative to more expensive spectral dynamics plug-ins, but it has some quirks that you might have to get used to.

The high CPU usage definitely could be better, but it's nothing insanely heavy. I'm guessing it's not very optimized though. I also wish that it had some sort of spectrum tilt/slope control (kinda like DSEQ and Voxengo Soniformer) so you could balance out the frequency response quickly instead of using (and wasting) two bands to do it in the side-chain display.

I like that they included the link bands control (same as 'selectivity' in DSEQ and Soothe I guess) as well as the saturation and sample rate reduction. I haven't played around with the SC width control that much, but it's also a nice inclusion.

For being a free plug-in it's amazing, but before I would consider to pay the full $105 for it (or even the $50 introduction price) I would want them to first fix a few things and add a couple of other features.

You see the small bright dots below Sidechain and Output? These are knobs for tilt EQs.

Working good. If max narrowed the sides are ignored, if max expanded the mid is ignored.

I was just reading some stuff about this one. Lots say its really good, but the free vers/demo is too limiting. Hope to see full version soon to try all feature!

? The only difference is that the Expander section is disabled, everything else is the same.

I dont remember exactly whats all missing between free/full versions. if you say only one section, apparently that is very important this "expander" section. at least from things I read on the forums. did you try both versions to compare?

Sorry, I haven't seen your reply.

No, I haven't tried both versions, I neither could find a demo/trial full version, nor a key'd full one.

No problem. I tried this version and im 50/50 on it. It works very very well for some track but not good for anothers. So it goes :)

I use it solely with its internal sidechain to tame unbalanced sounds. So far this works pretty well.
And the Selectivity setting is pretty important.

But I wouldn't use it for 'normal' compression effect.

I'm so curious about the full version and the expander part! If it's as good as the compressor part it would be really neat! Hope to see it here soon!
