Convology XT is a free convolution reverb, the result of a collaboration between Impulse Record and Wave Arts. Convology XT comes with 74 vintage impulse responses, a sampling of the 3,556 impulse responses in the Convology XT library.

The Convology XT Complete Library is focused on vintage reverb effects. Responses were sampled from 126 different pieces of vintage studio gear from studios all over the world. There are 10 separate libraries: 80s-90s DSP 1 Basic, 80s-90s DSP 2 Classic, 80s-90s DSP 3 Pro, Plates, Springs Bright, Springs Boingy, Springs Warm, Echo Space, Vintage Amps, and Vintage German DSP. The libraries are affordably priced.

The Convology XT True Stereo Library consists of 4-channel true stereo impulse responses. There are 2 separate true stereo libraries: True Stereo 1 and True Stereo 2.

The plug-in features an easy to use interface to browse through the libraries, allowing the user to quickly step through presets and audition on the fly while the music is playing. Despite being free, Convology XT is a world class convolution reverb, with CPU efficient processing, low latency and zero latency modes, max IR length of 2M samples (40 sec at 48 kHz), support for true stereo responses, support for WAV and AIF files, and modulation. There are also extensive IR modification functions, including stretch, decay time scaling, EQ, frequency-dependent decay time scaling, time reverse, and amplitude envelope. And a cool UI with real time spectrum, time display, and images of the vintage gear.

The beauty of Convology XT is the ease of browsing a huge vintage library, with truly world class impulse response files.

I updated from 1.24 and everything showed up as usual. Not 100% sure about 1.18 but I could guess. Maybe backup your prefs if it is a dealbreaker.

You can install this: Convology v1.18 + Library

Then save the "ProgramData\Impulse Record\ Convology XT Libraries" folder to some place (a DAW Library folder or drive, perhaps).
Then uninstall that and install this. The factory Library in this has some different / new stuff, so copy the new "Factory Library" folder into the saved directory to update that, overwriting as needed.

Uninstall is mainly to avoid having 2 versions, as this one will not overwrite the 1.18 DLL or VST3 due to placement in folders.
If you know what you are doing you could just delete the old DLLs and VST3s.
(This one also installs the 32-bit without warning or choice - hunt down and delete if desired)

Then you can either delete the newly created "Convology XT Libraries" and symlink the saved one, or follow the directions they give here:

Install note:
Installs 32-bit VST3 with no warning or option to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3
I assume it does the same with VST2.

It installs the VST3 into the root of VST3 folder instead of creating a vendor folder.
The 1.18 places the VST3 into a vendor folder, so if you do not uninstall you may end up with both versions installed.

The previous 1.18 installer did not undo changes to system if install is cancelled - I have not checked this one for that yet.

This one, unlike the 1.18, creates no Start Menu folder.

So is this like an “unlocked” release? If you have legit XT Convology Complete IRs, will they still need to be activated over the internet, or is this exe pre “fixed”?

Yes, this is indeed an UNLOCKED version. By replacing the pertinent files with the included patched versions (VST, VST3 and et cetera) results in unrestricted use of all Convology IR libraries. Thanks for the help to the others who answered this simple question. (Yes, sarcasm fully intended - bunch of A-holes that only chose to be mouthy and flippant instead of actually being a little helpful and informative.)
