Well for me, and the way I had understood it, portable is to install on a portable drive. Like I have all my kontakt libs on an external hard drive, and kontakt is installed on that drive too. Basically I could take kontakt anywhere and use the standalone version with all my libs. To use the VST version, that specific computer youre running on would need the VST installed in the VST3 folder (I keep a folder of VST install zips on the same drive just in case lol)

In Cubase 11 only one version will be visible as a VST. This behavior was different in the past but has changed since Kontakt v6.x (?)

Thats the one of biggest shit about Cubase, if there is same file names its ignoring one of them, even if there is different file names but both of them are same VST/VSTI it still ignoring one of them. Solution is Jbridge or Bluecat Patchwork etc., that time you can use different Kontakts.

Yes, you can have both bobdule and Portable at the same time, both standalone and in DAW. Just direct your DAW to scan the folder where the Portable dll is.

Portable means that the program's resources are in one folder, and it can be run in any computer without the need to install. You can carry the program in a USB, therefore it's portable.

I believe you can create a direct access of Kontakt.dll on your VST folder and run it without issues. But it comes with an installer that does that for you.

No, you do not put the portable dll anywhere else than in the folder it's in now. Instead, you direct your DAW to scan the folder it's in now to load the dll.

For me the portable version in addition to being more "slim" and work better, (in addition to the practicality of having everything in a folder without dirtying the log file), it has above all a fundamental characteristic that differentiates it from the installed version ... the management Bookstores through "Library Manager" ... with which to organize bookstores or move up or down a group of libraries ... it's really simple and fantastic ...
I don't understand why N.I. you don't try to acquire (buy) the Library Manager to enter it in the installed version ... with which you can manage libraries intelligently and practice.
With the installed version (especially if you have many libraries installed) the management ... it really is madness.
