Blue Cats Connector v1.0 VST2 VST3 AAX x64-Articstorm-bobdule screenshot
Windows | VST2/VST3/AAX x64 | 72MB
Have you ever dreamt to overcome the limitations of your favorite DAW and draw virtual audio and MIDI cables between any places that accept plug-ins?

Have you ever been frustrated not to be able to create feedback loops with plug-ins?

What about connecting multiple applications together, on different computers?

The wait is over! Blue Cat's Connector lets you do all of this, and more! It can stream audio and MIDI data in real time, between any locations that accepts plug-ins: one or several applications, on one or several machines connected to a network.

With precise buffering control, you can achieve the lowest possible latencies: down to 0 samples, when used in a single application.

Its built-in resampling and drift compensation algorithms let you create seamless connections between locations with different sample rates and unsynchronized master clocks: it just works!
bobdule has patched the missing VST3/AAX 64 bit versions. Remember AAX wont work in your legit ProTools.

Great!! I'll test it. Wonderful share Articstorm!!

update info: it worked perfectly sending audio to another PC over the network (repaer vs reaper). But just enabling the ports didn't work. I had to completely disable the windows firewall on the machine that receives the audio

Many thanks for that lovely plugin

It solved so many limitations for real

Its only limitation as far as I know that it must be seen as A Pllugin
, doesn't force itself as Virtual Midi, Audio Cable as well

Since many virtual instruments like
ARTURIA VOCODER V
doesn't scan plugins but sees only virtual midi, audio cables
So if you will need to live vocode with it
And the DAW you use doesn't support Instrument Midi-Out
Like Studio One, Fl Studio
Then you will need something like
Audio Jack Kit to connect both
Standalone Arturia Vocoder V with Studio One

N.B.
Arturia Vocoder V as a plugin
Vocodes only pre-made audio
But for live feed , vocoding you will need a bridge between both

Hope it helped someone

The first thing I thought of was "does this mean I can finally use the Vocoder V plugin in Studio One?" because there is no MIDI out. I guess you're answering the question by saying I'd need to use the standalone app.

Hopefully version 6 finally supports midi out, so I don't have to route things like this.

Studio one, fl studio has no midi out for instrument tracks
So, we can't use any virtual instruments and take its track and route it to another instrument track for manipulation or using by other plugins

Arturia Vocoder V as a plugin only vocodes audio files that is already made earlier
But to vocode in live mode using your own connected microphone you need to use the Standalone version only !!
Then through a virtual midi cable like
Audio jack
U can route the voice from
Arturia Vocoder V standalone to Studio one
To be recorded directly to an Audio Track!!

But other Daw's like
Abelton live
Cubase
Cakewake

Has midi out for instrument tracks
You don't need any virtual cables to be installed

That is why I was hoping BluCat solves it
Since
Studio obe, fl studio never listen to us since 2015 till now

By the way
If u will use audio hack kit
U have to run all apps, DAW'S, audio jack
As ADMIN

Or nothing works

"connections between locations with different sample rates and unsynchronized master clocks: it just works" sounds very promising! especially for windows

"connecting multiple applications together, on different computers"

sounds very promising! has anybody tried the 'multiple computers' one via windows? curious how stable it works...

I tried only the APP and the localhost variant (no second PC here :( ), both were quite stable. Localhost of course had dropouts, when CPU was under load, but otherwise it just works and opens so many cool creative doors now. I like this concept so much more then the rewire one? (But i guess rewire was maybe more stable? Idk ...) I am wondering why nobody else has thought of this before?

So yeah if you find it useful, maybe support BC. But you know that already.

Somebody has thought of this before, Articstorm. Cockos Reaper about a decade or more ago?. ReaStream is a VST plugin that sends 8 MIDI + 8 Audio streams over local network and I use it a lot [I use 3 computers], and when I want to connect ASIO apps, Reaper has a solution, too: ReaRoute ASIO driver - this one can do 32 channels of audio between ASIO apps on the same computer [no MIDI though]. :)

Rewire is actually quite cool as it can do 32 channels of audio [no MIDI if I remember correctly], but only Reason can send over Rewire [?]. I wonder if there is a Rewire VST plugin, because Reaper and some other DAWs [I think Cubase can?] can receive Rewire audio, too.

About Connector, it seems it can send/receive only 1 channel of audio and MIDI per instance it seems? That's a real limitation. 8 is far better, although I would like to see something do 16 or 32 channels of audio and MIDI over LAN. VEP [Vienna Ensemble Pro] to the rescue, then. But I've never tried it. I seem to be satisfied with ReaStream.

Cheers Articstorm and thank you sooo much as always bobdule! You guys both rock! AZ wouldn't be the same without you guys. Serious thank you.

I've used it between windows and mac machines, it works, but requires some very convoluted setups to get around limitations of how it's seen by hosts (they don't provide a version that is seen as VSTi, and the AU midi FX version simply doesn't work at all), if I set buffer size to about 2000-4000 then it works moderately well depending on other network traffic (running over 1000baseT)

by moderately well I mean that it'll tend to work, buffers will keep green, as long as I play fairly conservatively and with small note counts, as the complexity increases then it will tend to start to drop out at about 6-note chords or fast playing. From a theoretical point of view there's no real reason why this should happen, the major bottleneck is audio, and audio of 1 note in a single mono stream is the same amount of data as the audio of 4 notes in a single mono stream.

If it encounters any network lag though, it seems to have a 50:50 chance of disconnecting the hosts, and requiring that the plugins be reloaded at each end.

I did find that using rtpMidi outside of Connector, and ignoring the midi functionality in Connector and just using it for audio, worked a little more reliably, but not a lot, and again that's adding extra complexity into the way the plugins have to be setup on each host

Hmmm.. Seems promising.. I'll try to use this to patch my Traktor DVS setup (on a separate pc) into my Studio One project(s) when i go home for lunch today..

I have an Elektron Digitone and I want to use that keyboard for midi input but no matter what I do, Ableton won’t accept it, will it solve this problem? I use overbridge their plugin too but even when I use it in MIDI mode on the Digitone, no dice

What's the difference to the version released before without bobdule?

Has vst3 been added or what has changed?

My download before was about 30 mb in size.

Thanks!

Maybe Windows Firewall is blocking it? Make an exception for your DAW... hmmm, then again some plugins need to be blocked from Internet access, but you can do that via hosts file editing. My hosts file has gotten rather hefty since I don't use Windows Firewall, just one in the router, properly configured.

Just get Reason instead.

Why would i want to do that? Lets say you want to connect Logic and Ableton, bcs logic has something Ableton doesnt have, How useful would be Reason in this whole play?

Of course. You need a Windows/Mac version on a PC and a Mac/Windows version on the Mac PC, so all depending on the systems you're using.
