Revolutionary audio sample editing.
When you drag and drop an audio file into the plugin, it is sent to our server for processing. Once this is completed, you recieve the result with all the notes in the audio seperated. In order to edit the notes, we generate a MIDI file that you can drag into the Samplab track. From now on, the plugin acts like a virtual instrument: It gets the MIDI events as input from your DAW and plays the (edited) notes. If you don’t make any changes to the MIDI, the result should sound the same as the original audio. Of course, you can also just use the MIDI file for other things.

The Samplab Plugin should be compatible with most DAW’s that support the VST3 or AU plugin formats. It has been verified to work with Ableton Live (10.1 or higher) and FL Studio on Windows and Mac.

An Internet connection is only required to transform new audio files. Once the result is received, you can use and manipulate it indefinitely without being connected to the Internet.

The playback speed of the notes is determined by the tempo of the MIDI files. When you upload a new audio, we estimate its tempo. You can adjust this estimate by changing the “Estimated BPM” in the plugin. For the change to take effect, you have to drag the MIDI file into your DAW again.”

That sounds a bit strange that they need your internet connection to "Transform" a audio file first then the plugin works fine offline no problems, sounds like they are trying to collect some data about the user, what do you guys think?

Privacy policy looks ok, pretty standard. If it really is these two guys . You could send them an email from there I suppose.
Keep skeptical and only trial it with audio loops/samples you bought or dont mind sharing!

My guess:
You are uploading an audio file to their servers for their 'AI processing' (Ha! AI. sure, sure).
It will return some data that the plugin can map to MIDI on its own track and apply to your audio sample to slice it up as you move/shape MIDI notes (thats neat if it works , maybe great if it can handle most harmonic audio).

And because its now done its svr processing, that mapping data will be stored somewhere (Procmon would be useful here ;-)) and can be re-applied offline/anytime.

Would be good if we could get some feedback on results from others here.

They are probably offloading the processing to servers because either the processing is too strenuous for home computers, or because they want to prevent their ideas being stolen, or because it's a DRM measure.
If this is supposed to be a competitor for Melodyne, they need to make it just as convenient as it.

Another unnecessary "AI cloud based" program that probably, as most of them, only pave the way for a future subscription model.

At this rate, soon not even the raw midi data of a keyboard will be sent directly to the DAW, but first they will be sent to the "AI cloud" (to do nothing) and then they will be returned to DAW for processing...DAW that will be cloud based also...

I will pass this nonsense. Also I remain skeptical about data collection.

Prefer to do the processing on my own CPU (or a spare PC/laptop), than use internet data to u/l to somewhere else.

What are the close alternatives to something like this ?

Ableton Live kinda have this feature built-in, convert drum, melody, harmony to MIDI.

I think this is some sort of Machine Learning program, they want us to feed their "AI" with all sort of stuff and by time it could get smarter and give better result. Logically this conversion doesn't really need a lot of computing power.

I tried it few times, but it is annoying when it predicted the BPM of the loop with plus minus 3 to 5 bpm from the original that affect the length of the Midi clip it generated. Then Live starts to auto stretch it which will cause the "feel" of the clip a little off. Most of the time this is caused by "swing" that is applied to almost every loop out there. Apparently their algo have yet to sort this kind of problem just yet. Maybe it will get better in the future.

Which is why you can change the BPM as the audio is about to be loaded.
You don't have to use the estimate.
I think we can even audition it prior to the commit.

Absolutely useless MIDI info generated from this. I tried it with some very basic 1 bar of a major chord right up to a very busy 4 bars of a piano playing 16ths. The results were all horribly wrong. Even a super basic 120 BPM 1 bar kick/snare drum pattern didn't get transcribed correctly. For any Audio to MIDI, either Melodyne or Ableton Live can wipe the floor with this nonsense plugin. So I have no idea what AI they're using for this, but it must have the brain of a 6 month-old baby.

This is actually the start of something new.
It not only detects midi notes BUT ALSO creates a multi-sampled instrument.
Nothing else does this.

It seems good at re-pitching and copying notes, and equally good at just taking out the root notes etc.
Try it on a full mix of audio...

This seems to be prette amazing.

Only problem: I don't want my music computer to be conntected to the internet.

Why is the processing not possible offline? I don't get how it works tbh.


Maybe I can only make an exception for this program?
