Elektroniq is the 7th soundset in our series of soundsets for Omnisphere 2 where we take a synthesizer, record the most important aspects of it, and recreate its characteristics in Omnisphere.

The concept of the soundset is based on analog sounds taken from the Dual VCO analog synthesizer engine of the Elektron Analog Rytm, but with a twist. Instead of just recording the sounds and oscillators into Omnisphere, we let the sounds first take a detour through one of the coolest hardware samplers from the 1990s: the Ensoniq EPS 16+.

The Discovery Trailer soundset contains 100 presets and 25 multis and 48 soundsources and is part of the Discovery Series with 6 scheduled releases over the year.

The sounds in the soundset are filled with dark, distorted, pushing, edgy sounds, but also reflective, mysterious and wide and lush sounds are represented. All the sounds have modulation via the modwheel and aftertouch and in a lot of cases the pitchwheel adds some saturation and the CC2 often controls different modulation sources. The inspiration comes from shows from various trailer works done by labels such as Audiomachine, Really Slow Motion, Colossal Music and many more.

Discovery Horror Deluxe is the second release in the Discovery Series. It features 125 new presets, 35 multis and 104 soundsources.

The sounds in the soundset are filled with eerie, haunting and mysterious sounds. All the sounds have modulation via the modwheel and aftertouch and in a lot of cases the pitchwheel adds some ambience and the CC2 some movement. The inspiration comes from shows like Westworld, Stranger Things, The Dark and in music from Trent Reznor, Charlie Clouser and Mica Levi.

In the presets there is an extensive use of the modwheel, aftertouch, pitchweel and CC2 to enhance the sounds. Often sounds start as a fairly basic sound, but with the use of various controllers you can add a lot of depth to your sound so that it can match your productions.

For this soundset we took a look at another synthesizer from Sweden, and this is the one most people connect with beards, tattoos and striped flannel shirts. The OP1 from Teenage Engineering is probably regarded as the hipster synth number one, and it’s a synthesizer that has a devoted following. Apart from it’s cool design, it’s a very quirky synthesizer with lots of character.
