Jeez this sounds absolutely gut-wrenchingly terrible. Is this normal for Nexus expansions? I always assumed they were top notch. This one certainly isn't for a so-called "big orchestra", I expected something much better sounding but hey, it's $20. Anyway, thanks for the up.

It uses original orchestra bank, witch are average.

And Nexus is not Kontakt : no script, no advanced round robin, no multi GB banks with tons of articulations...because it is not possible.
Nexus is a basic ROMpler with some synthesis capabilities. Yes, it contains regular oscillators too, effects and such :D

Nexus can not replace Kontakt especially on realistic instruments (orchestra, acoustic bass...), but the opposite can be done ;)

In fact, nothing can touch Kontakt realism and power for now.
Nexus is best at electro synth ROMpler only.
