I'm seriously wondering why anybody would use these non-linear "IRs" or why the company/person making them thinks this is a good idea.
Regular impulse responses can't replicate non-linearities, differently gain-staged "IRs" make no sense! Unless the preamp impairs some change in the frequency spectrum.. But if that is non trivial the pre-amp is not doing it's job too well..
