Can they also be used in the plugin?

I haven't used them in a long time (the Korg collection) although it is very good and I own a legit licence. So thank you for clarifying!!

nice collection. m1 and wavestation vsts are still very usable specially in live situations!
There is no knowledge that is not power.

When you buy any product from the market that contains many accessories, such as printer cartridges, smart phones, etc, pay attention that these companies earn more from accessories sales than from the product itself. Such is the case with these keyboards extra cards, be aware that in the case of Roland, all the sounds of their cards are already inside their keyboards, it is the biggest deception of the Keyboards History that I have ever seen, the cards are just small circuits switch to access pre-recorded tones in the ROM.
So I ask, why Roland did it, assuming a keyboard costs $ 1000, and each card costs $ 90, buying all 15 cards, a silly consumer will have spent $ 1350.
Thanks to Kontakt world competition, that produced much better timbres than Roland and Yamaha expensive products, including many Kontakt free ones.
I understand that there are many important Keyboards and synthesizers that is a must or 75% useful for the practice they offer, but the keyboards of this new millennium are a total disappointment, these companies have now the rope around their necks.
Although Korg proved to be one of the best keyboards on the market.

quote by Hans Irgend Blumenfeldbe aware that in the case of Roland, all the sounds of their cards are already inside their keyboards, it is the biggest deception of the story that I have ever seen, the cards are just small circuits switch to access pre-recorded tones in the ROM.

Eh? What are you referring to?
It sounds to me like you don't know what you are talking about - "cards" generally contain *either* patch data, or PCM data.

Patch data is just new patches that people have programmed - effectively, people have set the synth's controls and parameters in a certain way to make a certain sound.

PCM data adds *new samples* to the synth, which you can use in patches, and these do in fact add new possibilities and sound combinations to a synth (because, new samples).

In the case of, for example, the Roland expansion bouards like the JV-series, or he SRX series, these boards contain *both* new samples, *and* new patches that use the new samples (and also existing samples in the synth) for their patches.

There's no deception story, If you don' want to buy a whole bunch of new patches, don't, and either use the ones you already have, or make your own - thats perfectly fine. But there are also people who are more musicians than sound designers, and a quick way to purchase new sounds they can play is highly valuable to them.

Now, if we're talking *pricing*, then yes, in the 80s/90s, prices for patches for synths was very high - eg £50 to £100 for a single bank of 50 or so patches - thankfully things are not that bad these days *but* patches are very devalued because we all have access to so many synths and patches already, largely due to software, and he internet.

I always know what I'm talking about, because, I only talk when I lived a particular situation, I had many keyboards, pianos, organs, synthesizers, including an original Moog and a Hammond organ.

As you realized on what I have written, referring to Roland Co..
The deception of the Keyboard business history.
'Patch Data Cards' is another thing, sold separatelly RAM for keyboards.

YOU agree with me, when you say: ""cards" generally contain *either* patch data, or PCM data.", then in your own words it means: generally = 'Most of the time, but not always'.

Other companies did PCM Data Cards. Not Roland.
'Expansion Boards' is another thing, I mentioned about cards, but card for what, is not specified if it has PCM Data or not.
Expansion means more, the name suggests a grand lawsuit if it did not have PCM sounds.
I know Roland expansion boards, and have new sounds inside it, not so gorgeous...

So what, 'Korg' sold it with the proper name 'ROM CARD', then we find a ROM inside the card, 'Korg' is a serious company.

Do the test, open any Roland card and modify the connections, you will get other tones from your keyboard.
Will be surprised that I do not speak without knowledge of cause, I think I have already passed the post adolescence.

I could be wrong but I think the Yamaha Montage is a great synth! If I had the money that's what I would buy.
Now, about the share. Thank you so much. I'll have to figure out what happened to my installation, every thing is working but not the Wavestation, I mean, the plugin.
