Ronnie of Rekkerd has announced the launch of The Unfinished u-he Synth Contest, a music production contest with sounds and plugins as prizes.
These are the mechanics of the competition: Matt Bowdler of The Unfinished has made 20 patches for each of the following u-he synths: Bazille, Diva, Podolski, Tyrell N6, Zebra 2 and Zebralette.

To enter, you need to use some of these 120 sounds in your composition; you are completely free to do any genre of music and use any tools, sounds and whatever else you like.

Integral is such a funny guy, posting this stuff on the regular but almost always downvoting the mirrors other people like Moji20 post on the stuff he posted. Does he really change his ethical standpoint on posting freeware and trying to earn money over developers already putting out their software for free that fast? Nah, I think true colors are being shown for anyone that is willing to take a closer look. And the more people know, the better!

Shame on this guy and the horrible hypocrisy just makes it all that much worse in my honest opinion. The only thing worse than a dishonest person is a dishonest person that seems to have a strong "moral standpoint" on being dishonest but obviously only whenever it suits him best.

You may not agree with the site's rules, but they allow him clearly to do that.
And your vision about if these mirrors are useful or not, is not even reflected by a systematic downvote.

You can always visit the developer site, the link is included in the post.

BTW, by downloading using direct links to the dev hosting, without visiting his site you are only generating cost to him, not value. So if you really want to help the dev, go visit his site, don't use direct links.

The "home page" link posted by this beggar doesn't refer to the dev website but to flstudiomusic.com, which then send you to rekkerd.org for downloading.

Why he didn't posted that link? Because people will then download directly at the dev home page instead of those stupid rewarding hosts.

You're right, the site posted is not the home page. Perhaps an innocent mistake, or maybe a way to confuse people looking for a download link and compelling them to simply download from one of the premium hosts.

Either way, Olymoon is doing a great job here, but I have to agree that sometimes he does defend too much when people question behaviour that is at the very least questionable. No offence.

I'm sure that this place deserve my time and energy. So many musicians are able to try, and discover musical tools thanks to this website, that it's 100% worthy and I wish I could do more.

I think bringing our awareness of the competition was pretty cool, just to be devil's advocate. In saying that, seems unfair to down vote moji when the stuff is free anyway. But hey what do I know, I just live here :P

Maybe you should start an open dialogue with the vocal community here instead of threatening them with status reductions or other possible punishments? I mean, the fact that people are routinely downvoting the posts of a certain individual must mean they have a reason to do so and the best way to solve such an issue would be to find out why and try to resolve said issue at the core.

On a side-note, I would very much like to know what the upvote and downvote system is here for when I am asked not to use the red button whenever I deem it reasonable. I thought it was to make known our (dis)satisfaction with certain content that appeared on the site and I used it for exactly that. If you check my history I probably have a lot more upvotes scattered all around on different posts and comments from all kinds of people (even some of Integral his posts, although less) than I do downvotes. I just used the system in place for what I assumed it was there for.

Again, agreed. Is downvoting not a means of disapproval? If it is a punishable offence when done to a contributor, then what is its purpose? I suggest adding a section in the rules describing who and in what conditions may someone downvote.

If he is not following the rules, he should be banned and not downvoted. A vote is just a vote. When someone has the option to vote, you cannot force your desired vote. It's even worse than downvoting. Many users upvote specific contributors systematically. This should also be against the rules (and it's not, nor downvoting). Either #FreeVotes for everyone or this function needs to be removed for regular users, so that only moderators could vote. Hello dictatorship.
