Big Beat is a collection of loops and one shots inspired by the massive live breakbeat drum sounds found in classic Big Beat tracks by the likes of The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx and Fatboy Slim.

Characterised by big trashy sounds, driving rhythms and punchy hits these massive beats were the driving force behind some of the biggest dance tracks of all time. For our sound we chose London’s The Pool Studio. The big live room with its concrete floor and high vaulted ceiling is the perfect space for recording big drum sounds. We enlisted James Pinfield-Wells on the drums again, with producer duo Jim and; Rob Homes engineering and producing. The Pool’s vintage Neve console was pushed to the limit, and the studio’s extensive outboard and mic collection captured the massive big beat drum sound perfectly.
