IIRC, CineStrings do also include separate articulation patches.

True, but using separate articulations is like taking a trip back to 2005. Vienna Symphonic Library had a gazillion separate articulations, and that was the reason people hated it. In an average piece, you had to include no less than 10-15 tracks per instrument group (legato, staccato, pizzicato, trills, tremolos etc. all separate tracks.) Now, if you're dealing with the string section, multiply that by 5 and you can see why it was a MAJOR hassle.

Wow, I've been waiting for this for a while now!

Does anyone have a 2-day ul.to pass they wouldn't mind shooting my way? I feel weird asking in the comments here, but I'm pretty broke for the next couple of weeks.

Even if I gotta wait, mad props and thanks to the uploader. I had a chance to try it out a while back, the library is sick.

Wow, you waited that long? I would have definitely started the task manager and killed the application after half an hour or so. Incidentally, that's the reason why I never use the VST to do maintenance on Kontakt.

I'm not sure but it seems there are some missing files , normaly all .NKX have a .NKC attached to them , I don't see the : 004 , 007 , 008 , 011 , 013 , 015 , 017 , 020 , and 022 NKC files in the sample folder . please correct me if i'm wrong or confirm.

I made a mistake deleting the files and now I am unable to use the whole library, it is not possible for me to download all stuff again.

What OS are you on? I'm asking because I'm on Window$, and I didn't need any installer at all, I just added the library in Kontakt. Dunno if it's any different with Macs, though.

You need to upgrade to Kontakt 5.3 and download the newest version of Service Center from the Kontakt website.

I added the library on kontakt 5.3 standalone now it's ok.
Anyway, does someone know if the sound on this library is watermarked? I am currently following the main rule,obviously , try and buy and I bought everything tried but I don't have a fix job since 2011 (meh, Italy) and I want to finish a project with this library to collect money to buy it, so it's important to know about watermark.

Wow, the patches really do take forever to load, I've never encountered such slow loading with any other library.

Batch resave had been smoother than I expected until it reached the Multis - that was when the speed got screwed up good and proper.

EDIT: Perhaps a stupid question, but how do you change between WS/HS?

Im on a Mac and instruments dont work with my kontakt player. I tried to install CORE but I get this message and Im not sure what to do.

Just à question about the sound of the celli, using the full strings, I find it little bit crappy, with some distorsion , not so natural... Does any body have the same feeling about this?

This is only CORE...I let you imagine the complete suite
Same applies to Spitfire Mural/Sable and others big banks...

A lot of composers use several computers to run all their banks, like in the GIGA days
They call them "box". You will see things like : "i run 3 PC boxes and a Mac..."

A lot are running Vienna Ensemble Pro for this task. And let their banks loaded 24/7 on their "boxes", and when they load a project, it only creates links to VEP running on other "boxes". They don't load Kontakt/PLAY patches each time...imagine a film project with 20 cues to load one after the other Realoading each time all patches/samples ? No way.

It is another workflow, and another way to do things. But the only way to run full banks like this one. Because you don't need only strings, but percs, brass, woodwinds...too.

To me, banks like this one are impossible to run without at least 16GB RAM and an SSD bank drive on a single computer.
And even then, you will need to use Bidule/VEP or anything that keep your banks loaded between projects...until you want to make a coffee each time you load another cue

But as usual, most ppl will dowload it, stuff their drive with it...and barely use a single articulation from it
If you want to do this, Cinematic Strings 2 and Adagietto are more suited.
I'm pretty sure Symphobia/Albion would suit 90% ppl...but hey, who i'm i to say that ?

Great post as always. What a workflow, I'm happy enough to have one computer that I can use properly much less 3. I actually just upgraded to a new 4th Generation Haswell i7 with 32 GB of RAM so I'm finally happy to be joining the 21st century and making use of some of the libraries I've been eying for years. Running beautifully on Windows 8 x64. You're also on the money about people stuffing drives with releases they will never use. Such a waste of time and space. It's better to get a few plug-ins and learn them inside out than to collect all the stuff in the world and never use it or get the most out of it. We aren't going anywhere so please take a step back from the sickness that is collecting and make some music with what you have folks.

I took your advice and have opted to go with Cinematic Strings 2, which is only 22Gb, and was easily torrented.. One does have to take into account the limits of their processor, RAM, hard drive space, and logic when considering these monstrous libraries!!
