Native Instruments has released Thrill, a new instrument that enables the introduction of terrifying live scores to movies, games, sound installations, or theater productions.

Thrill combines the epic power of an orchestra with the chilling depth of expert sound design, houses them within a simple performance-driven interface, and places them into the hands of a single player.

NI say that using Thrill, a single person could perform the terrifying string tone clusters from The Shining, as Jack Torrance rampages around Overlook Hotel. An aspiring young filmmaker could single-handedly play all of Arrival's stomach-churning bass drones in just one take.

The all-original 30 GB sound library is taken from 963 source sounds, including orchestral recordings and hybrid sound-design based on ambiences, custom-built instruments, voices, pitched metal, synthesized drones, and more.

Central to Thrill is an X-Y control for modulating effects and morphing between sounds. This control offers composers and sound designers something new – the ability to design and play complex cinematic textures and builds in real time. Simple and intuitive to use, the control blends between sound sources, effects, the number of sonic layers, general intensity, and more, depending on the preset being used. This X-Y modulator lends itself to trackpad, tablet, or even smartphone control (via TouchOSC), allowing sound-to-action interaction.

Thrill also comes with a powerful tone cluster designer. Tone clusters are a special kind of chord, containing at least three adjacent notes, and are one of the staple tools for generating fear and tension in any audience. Thrill offers 250+ diverse and editable cluster sound and voicing presets, using the many types of pitched sounds in the Thrill library, such as strings and horns. Tone clusters can also be built from scratch, with up to eight independently editable and modulatable voices.

For Mac and primary DAW use:

Install Xcode

open terminal:

paste this:

sudo codesign -f -s -

hit space to include a space and drag Kontakt 5.component to terminal, hit enter

put your system password and hit enter

do the same with the VST file.

copy these 2 files into their respective folders (Library-Audio-Plug-ins) Components and VST folders

IMPORTANT: keep your 5.6.6 Standalone version, and use it to add libraries.

latest Xcode is for Sierra only. Not sure I want to move up yet and current Xcode tools don't work.

I installed from Native update but registration failed because I don't own the product... so N.I can see all my cracked products ??? aren't those installations notes dangerous ??? thank you

I do not understand how to run both versions of Kontakt side by side.
When I choose "kontakt" in my DAW (Cubase) it always uses the dll of the actually installed Kontakt version.
What must I do to have them running side by side?

Oh for god's sake! The amazing cracking teams know that will need to release a usable update to Kontakt, and you can be sure they're working on it.

Would it be possible to run the new libraries in the Free KONTAKT 5 PLAYER which IS v5.6.8 ? Could we get one of those apps that records all sounds on your pc, making the sounds you want in the Thrill library in the free, latest version Kontakt player, and recording them, then pulling those wavs into your DAW? Do we actually need to have the Kontakt in the DAW to record any llibrary? Or would it not be possible to activate/register the library using the free player?
When I get this one, I'll be able to create something

I'm using PC version of Kontakt 5.6.6 and 5.6.8 side by side. I load THRILL with 5.6.6 and use it with 5.6.8 without any problems. You'll find the 5.6.8 version here:

Just rename the .exe of the release (for the standalone version) and the .dll (for VST plugin version) and copy them to your harddrive, right where your older version resides. It makes sense to name the files accordingly (e.g. Kontakt 5.6.6.exe / Kontakt 5.6.8.exe rp. Kontakt 5.66.dll / Kontakt 5.6.8 for the plugins).

I wasn't sure which one it was and asked the question a few days back. Cashmeere kindly answered it was probably TouchOSC. So not a dedicated controller but one that was created with TouchOSC on either an iPad or an Android tablet. As you can see in the video, it is a simple XY controller.

I'm using PC version: I installed it on a local HD drive (E:\). Must not be the main HD (C:). Then moved it to a NAS without a problem. I use a 5.6.6 and a 5.6.8 version side by side. I load THRILL with 5.6.6 and use it with 5.6.8 without problems.
