ABBEY ROAD | VINTAGE DRUMMER brings the smooth, dynamic sound of early incarnation drum kits back to life. Get true vintage tone within the intuitive framework of the ABBEY ROAD DRUMMER Series. Extremely rare instruments dating from the 1920s to 1940s were meticulously recorded at Abbey Road Studios using a mixture of period equipment alongside state-of-the-art recording chains that allow users to blend the best of old and new.

Brush articulations, available for the first time in the ABBEY ROAD Series, add another expressive dimension to VINTAGE DRUMMER, and the extensive Groove Library and Mixer Section offer a trove of inspiration for producers of all genres – from the earliest jazz to cutting edge electronic.

RECORDED AT ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS

All drums were recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, UK.

An iconic symbol of the music industry since 1931, Abbey Road has been the location of countless landmark recordings by artists such as The Beatles, U2, Kate Bush, Oasis, Kanye West and Radiohead, to name just a few.

Abbey Road has pioneered many studio techniques and technologies, and is widely recognized as one of the most advanced recording, mixing and post-production complexes in the world.

THE DRUM KITS

Two ultra-rare kits, each with a choice of three snares, deliver the sound of pre-1950s Jazz and big band recordings. The Ebony kit is an open, mellow, and smooth-sounding kit featuring original James Blades 12” and 13 ” toms and a 26” Leedy bass drum – all tuned with original calfskin drum heads.

The Ivory Kit is a classic Slingerland Radio King kit from the early 1940s with 13” and 16” toms and a 24” bass drum. Also equipped with original calfskin heads, this kit is warm, chunky, and somewhat tighter than the Ebony kit.

THE MIXER SECTION

Create the perfect drum submix completely within the instrument! Each of the updated ABBEY ROAD DRUMMER Series provides a dedicated Mixer Section and a range of high-quality studio effects, including tape saturation, convolution reverb and three big-league effects: a top-qualitystudio EQ, a high-endstudio compressor and the awe-inspiringTRANSIENT MASTER.

And if time is tight, Mixer and Effects presets provide instant pro sound with precision mic levels, the perfect blend of close and room mics, and just the right effects to set it all off.

COMPREHENSIVE GROOVE LIBRARY

The right drum sound is only part of the equation. ABBEY ROAD | VINTAGE DRUMMER provides a Groove Library full of beats and fills that perfect for everything from jazz and swing to the most modern pop productions. A set of modern grooves is also included for producers looking to add some vintage spice to their contemporary sound.

These MIDI patterns were played live by professional drummers – find the beat that suits the track you’re working on, choose fills and variations to match, then drag and drop into your host sequencer.

And if you’re a drummer yourself, just hook up your e-drums and you’re ready to go.

I have just tried them and Im glad to say that my concerns about the CPU consumption were unfounded, disabling onboard fxs Im getting 10-15% of it, not too much I think

Maybe useful "cpu hog" info:

testsystem: t9300 core 2 duo, 4gb ram, windows 8 x64, kontakt 5.0.3 (r2r)

I started the kontakt as standalone player and I loaded several grooves to monitor the cpu load on both the 2 full kits that are included. It depends a little on setup and the grooves that are playing, but I monitor CPU load between 9% - 12%

I think NI Drums are great sounding,& have a comprehensive miking/mixing matrix. They really are & do,& there's no way to deny that. But yeah, like I friggin rock said.Considering that in comparison to other tools such as Superior Drummer(which is what I for one use & am content with as far as acoustics,& Addictive Drums occasionally for some crazy sounding kits),NI's motherfuckers can eat up quite a bit of CPU.CPU that I'd rather save for other deals, even though I have a good processor,as is so the case with many more peeps.

Also,& mainly since they gotta be within Kontakt, well that is a negative issue at least for me;given I always have crashes when I exceed the 6 instance mark(or even less,& which is a zigantic fucking pain-in-the-ass that honestly makes me want to brutally & viciously murder the fuck out of something out of frustration).I need any vital instance of it reserved for other crucial instruments that don't come in any other form than a K-library(with the exception in my referred palette, being Trillian as my standard Bass). So having said that, well any library-based instrument that is great, but that more importantly can function independently from Kontakt, will always be a winner in my system. But any who with that personal-work-flow shit.& yes,I sometimes go on a run;so whoever,go ahead & sue me if it irritates the fuck out of you.

The point is,regarding short/wide/& hollow cylindrical forms with fucking synthetic matter spread on a ring at their tops:that Superior Drummer--& in this case pertaining to the matter of Vintage tones--IMO with its Custom & Vintage/Roots SDXs,well it covers that department quite effectively. Yes,IMO that is what it does. But what I don't really get,is why any would actually say or think that Superior Drummer's drums ''are the worst sounding out of all of them''? That not only is a flat-out subjectivity, but it is a completely invalid one even as that. Granted it may be that they're not as any may deem as THE best sounding for THEM,or that the overall framework of the plugin is just not comfortable for, again,THEM;& what not more of these lines of thought. But going as far as to ''assert'' that they ''sound bad'',''plastic & digital'',or whatever of that discourse?Well sorry, but a universal NO.

About EZ Drummer libraries?Well of course these are NOT at all what most who are trying to achieve serious work, would use. These are specifically out there to serve as lil but decent starter kits with extremely limited layers & articulations etc.,for any who don't really care or have a need for a broad range of anything. But again,& finally, well Superior Drummer is not that;& contrary to any's beliefs, its Drums/Hats/Cymbals & miking/mixing capabilities are SOME of the best top-shelf percussive weapons out there.

As far as ripping NI's MIDIs,well I for one already have more than I could ever want,or even use if I ever did.But of course any may do as convenient for them.I just like my isht, like many,as much as possible straight out my creative spirit.Bottom line after having said whatever in previous,a truth a majority can agree on,is that most don't really give a flying shit about what is what to any, when it's time to get in front of their machine,keys,&/or mouse & all else involved in making their Music...& ergo will simply work & do as they like no matter what. Peace!!!
