Cinesamples CinePerc AUX v1.1 KONTAKT screenshot
11.6 GB | TEAM MAGNETRiXX 08 November 2013
CinePerc AUX is an auxiliary expansion to the other CinePerc options that will expand your template along with your creativity. These samples were recorded along with the rest of CinePerc at the SONY Scoring Stage, and were also mixed by Dennis Sands. This expansion includes many of the other colors you’ll need in your percussion writing. It includes ethnic instruments, toys, and other knick-knacks to give your pieces an extra flavor. The ability to use off-the-beaten-path sounds is essential in film, tv, and video-game writing, and we recorded every random instrument we could get a hold of!

One of the highlights of the CinePerc AUX library is this sheer variety of timbral choices. As composers, we’re always looking for ways to stand apart from the crowd in our music. With instruments like the Bodhran, Anklungs, Ethnic Chimes, Ethnic Shakers, Log Drum, Monkey Sticks, Talking Drums and Tambourika, this library will add a great variety of creative and unique auxiliary colors to your composing palette. CinePerc breaks new ground in the addition of a new “LFE/SUB” channel. All of the instruments requiring this additional low-end boost were mixed by Dennis Sands to contain this channel. So, for those of us with a surround and sub setup, you can send this LFE/SUB channel to your sub. Add that to the QUAD mix, and you have a near-final mix for large movie theaters. Along with the LFE channel (on most instruments), CinePerc adds in the standard Full Mix from Dennis Sands, Close, Overhead, Mid Room, Room and Surrounds. When the LFE is created (for the low frequency instruments) the Room and Surrounds transform into a QUAD Front and QUAD rear channel creating a perfect 4.1 environment specifically remixed by Dennis Sands. Check out the link below to see how different microphone positions can drastically change your mix, this also highlights how versatile our library can be. its pretty sad when its required for all of the additional Kontakt *DLC* libraries just to make the complete library.

*rollseyes*

i guess the developers took after the gaming industry DLC concept.

I think it's unfair to imply the DLC concept applies here, drably. Your dramatic eyeroll comes across as nothing but childish, which is disappointing since I know you're very intelligent from your posts in the past.

You probably know all of this drably, but to ensure that anyone else reading is on the same page: DLC in gaming means that after you buy the original game (which, if the developer is honest, is a complete product), you are provided additional content at or after launch to extend game time. This works fine for honest developers who just add additional, supplemental content/storylines after the game launches, and legitimately worked enough on the DLC that it is worthy of an additional fee.

The problem with DLC for the past few years is that many developers have been deliberately holding back content from the original product (making it not quite complete), selling it for the same price, AND asking for more money to download the "additional content" that they withheld in the first place. I of course despise this practice as much as you probably do drably, but the fact is that CinePerc has nothing to do with that- each "product" or part of the full CinePerc name is a complete entity. To imply otherwise is nothing short of stupid.

Hell, I'll bite. Maybe Catalyst and others will find it useful as a summary of CinePerc and what they should download as well. Since some people need the value of these libraries spelled out for them (when they're getting it for free here, the height of ungratefulness):

CinePerc is split up in the consumer's favor so that instead of buying one $1200-$1600 library as one would in the past with Kirk Hunter, East West QLSO, Miroslav, etc. you have the option of buying it in smaller segments as your budget allows, or (as I have done) just buying the parts you actually would use.

CinePerc Core: Your bread and butter of traditional orchestral percussion. Snares, Single Bass Drum, Timpani, etc.

CinePerc Pro: Fleshes out what CinePerc Core started, with traditional percussion that are still part of the bread and butter, but less essential than the instruments in Core. Things like the Celesta, Vibraphone, Marimba, etc. A lot of the type of instruments that composers like Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams used during the 'Golden Age' of film (not my words-- it is the term for the time period Star Wars, Planet of the Apes, E.T., etc. soundtracks were made in) to get that signature sound.

The two parts above are what you would get in a library like East West's Symphonic Orchestra, but more deeply sampled, done in a modern way, and on the Sony Scoring Stage which has an iconic sound. For the most part, they have everything that Spitfire's Orchestral Percussion has. Worth at least the same amount as that library, and priced accordingly. Everything below is "extra" but useful to various circles of the modern composing community.

CinePerc Epic: Is as the name implies. Basically the large ensemble drums that you hear beneath Battlestar Galactica (Taikos), The Dark Knight (Bass Drum Ensembles, large ensemble hits), and various Film action music (Swooshes/cymbal risers, snaps, Djembe). This is a companion library to Heavyocity's Damage- where Damage to me goes more for that raw, in your face type of action score, CinePerc Epic is more for the Epic Drums that just "sit" in the mix, with more of an organic quality. Both are fantastic, but have different functions. Both are in the same price range.

CinePerc Aux: Basically a selection of both "everything else" and some ethnic percussion. This is more of a flavor expansion but everything here is still incredibly valuable- it is a nice compliment to any of the three above, or for the type of composer that's more into Latin writing. Or for that old school action writing, when using bongos, etc. for chase and stealth scenes was still in style. rofl

Basically the type of instruments present in Evolution World Percussion but in an "essentials" collection, and priced accordingly. As with the rest, it is geared toward film composers and recorded on the Sony Scoring Stage.

I hope that clears up an misconception about any of the libraries not being complete products and unworthy of the pricetag. AudioZ, please be thankful for the gift these uploaders have given you over the past few days- I certainly am. I have already bought half of the CinePerc series and intend to pick up the rest by this time next year. The frustration of the developers is understandable, but their uncontrolled anger is misplaced. Let's prove them wrong! If you actually use these libraries for a significant amount of time, support the developers and buy them!

Welcome to my world. Rest assured though that your posts are always appreciated and always informative. EtherealVoice is going to actually be reviewing Kontakt libraries soon which I'm sure I've mentioned at some point. Who knows anymore because I don't even remember when exactly I slept this week. wow

That would be absolutely stellar of you even if you only did one and of course it would be wanted. Is that even a question? We'd be honored if you did. mates

allshallfade,
Thanks for your post, I am sure plenty will find the information useful. Such a good marketer to ensure potential customers that they are absolutely getting their dollar value (which is not being disputed). Supporting every word, the quality of these libraries are worth every penny.

Each element of this library is being marketed functional in its own respective way alluding to the developers comment: "Cinesamples newest library, which is CinePerc. The CinePerc series is actually 4 libraries, which make up the CinePerc series." -- taken from the CinePerc core overview (first 12 seconds/youtube).

Sure there are various ways to justify this, but it does not mean that CinePerc is not one big library (or the other Cinesamples libraries being broken down into smaller sized content). It is great that they break it down for affordability purposes (or for what is needed), but it does not change the fact that each element of the library (each expansion, or "content"), is sold separately, and downloadable. This is why I make reference to DLC. My original post was made mostly in humour, but with some seriousness implied as well (because of the aforementioned aspect(s)).

At least functionality isn't limited, such as the Spitfire Sable series which require all volumes to be present for legato articulations dunno

Cheers.

drably,

I see what you mean. DLC was and still is a poor comparison for CinePerc- in the context of your original post you did indeed imply that each module, expansion, content (whatever term we want to agree on! haha) was not complete without all of the others. All I was arguing was that that is untrue in the case of CinePerc, in every way. The only argument you could make is that CinePerc Core and Pro are tough to use without the other, but with there being libraries like Apocalypse Percussion Ensemble and various other percussion essentials that include less of the traditional percussion in their entirety, it's still a hard sell to call those two incomplete.

That said, Spitfire's Sable in particular you could have made an argument for, especially considering the price of each volume. Again, overall the cost still ends up being the same as what the most advanced libraries of their time have always been (EWQLSO when it first came out, Kirk Hunter even now, East West Hollywood series when they first came out, etc), but it's one of the first of its kind that has a "gotcha!" where you could buy the third volume and end up being unable to use a good deal of its articulations. Not a huge fan of that either.

Thanks guys, glad someone else got some use out of all of that. Let me know when the new section is up, Cataly5t, I can definitely provide at least a couple of reviews.

... And I should have guessed audiodessey would be one of the first to keep making requests, even after the massive uploads of the past few days. rofl

Maybe he's a robot. OH MYY rofl

I can never understand some folks. Not my style. In fact I have made possible a handful of requests since I've been here and not even in the request section, just casually. My attitude is if it's out it will be posted and unless I need some obscure release I don't see the point in busting someone's balls and looking like an ingrate.
