Inspired by vintage synthesisers of Japan coupled with the atmospheric sounds of the vibrant city of Tokyo.
As part of my MA in Electronic Music Production, I have recently been studying Kontakt scripting to create instruments.
With a career and background in graphic design, I have been able to produce wireframes and visuals influenced by the NI Play Series instruments.
The background image was sourced from Unsplash and treated in Adobe Photoshop before adding an animated rain effect in Adobe After Effects. I created the volume and effects controls in Adobe Photoshop and added an outer glow.
My synth sounds were created using both hardware (Deepmind 12 and Korg Opsix) and software plugins (Arturia Pigments and The Legend HZ). All sounds were sampled at 24 bit 48kHz using SampleRobot 6. This helped with loop points, which could be manually tweaked if necessary.
The atmospheric sounds were also sampled at 24 bit 48kHz, edited through Ableton Live to enhance the binaural effect.
This is my first attempt at creating a series of Kontakt instruments. I’ve provided a user guide, a demo and some snapshots in the download folder to get started.
