The copy I have of Virtual Drumline also uses 7A6, but it's a separate nicnt file, ie the snpid isn't embedded, so it may have been arbitrarily assigned. I'll try changing it to 757 in the nicnt file (and deleting all the prefs, etc) and see if that resolves it.

UPDATE: reloading from updated RARs fixed the problem
