This is my (not-so-)LiTE version of Strezov Sampling Afflatus Chapter II Brass as I wanted it to suit my needs. It represents quite some work so please take it as is (or don't take it) and don't ask me about lighter version or whatever.

I am kind enough to sort and split samples so you can pick only one microphone position if you want, but you will have to do a part of the work by modifying and resaving instruments if you want to avoid to be prompted for missing samples every time you load them.

A short explanation is provided in the info file whitin the library directory, but I highly recommend you to read Rollerball's tutorial for more detailed information. Besides, if you like "minified" versions, you can learn to do it by yourself by reading his guide.

- Based on VIP Team release of Strezov Sampling Afflatus Chapter II Brass (108 GB)
- All samples converted from 24 to 16 bits (with dither)
- All patches and articulations from original library are present
- Close and Decca mics only (Section and Hall mics removed)
- NKX files sorted by microphones so you can get rid of an unwanted mic position if needed
- 26.3 GB size on disk (75% reduction) - 20.3 GB full download

- Extract SSABL.rar
- Extract SSABL-Close_Samples.rar and put all nkx and nkc files directly in the library's "samples" folder
- Extract SSABL-Decca_Samples.rar and put all nkx and nkc files directly in the library's "samples" folder

I made this lite with the ViP Team release (just before it disappeared and came back) so I had to credit this one.
That said, I am also grateful for Decibel and for all the releases we can find here.

The sound I like is a blend of the 2 positions :)

It depends entirely of your taste / usage, but Close mic is needed to me as default instruments have a very "roomy" sound, with a lot of reverb, even without the 2 other microphones.
I wouldn't use decca mix alone, except for some specific work.

I thinked about Afflatus Strings a few times.
Keeping close + Decca would probably achieve a 35-38 GB Library ,which is a huge size for a "light" library.
Depending on the instruments, I would keep both most of the time so the size is a concern.

Well, that's why I never made it I guess, but I keep thinking of it :)

as a guitarist, i prefer my horns 2-3 feet from my face. preferably through 50K watts of hiwatt HGS100H heads and a wall of 12's. just me

I just downloaded from usenet using the nzb file. When I try to extract the rar, it asks for a password, but I don't see any listed anywhere.

The password is in the NZB file, with a good grabber like NZBGet or SabNZB it automatically process the archive with it.
You can edit the NZB as a text file, and near the 5th line you will find the password.

I added it on download page.

Thanks for the effort making this, what a nice brass lib!
Decca's RAR no. 6 says here "CRC error" so I can't extract and get the main big RAR of the Decca samples.
I tried twice and no luck.
Can anyone please share again the Decca rar6 please?
All the files are gone by now :(
