Fluffy Audio Jazz Drums: Brushes KONTAKT-DECiBEL screenshot
Team DECiBEL | 30 Dec 2021 | 6.80GB
Jazz has always been a passion of ours. Therefore, after "Simple Jazz - Bass" and "Scoring Piano", we naturally desired to sample the missing instrument of the classical jazz trio: the Drums.

Hence, we begun to dig in search of sampled brushed drums, realizing that, despite the dozens of high quality drum libraries, few of them featured "proper" brush strokes. In fact, that sweeping motion that made brushes so popular in jazz drumming is rarely reproduced faithfully with samples.

Thus, with the usual care for the script challenge, we started to think about how to isolate those complex sweeping motions into simpler units that would be easy to be sampled. Was it going to be possible to put them back together in a way that would build up an "Elvin Jonesish" groove? We will let you determine whether or not we reached this goal.

At this size, this does promise to be really good, I reckon.
All the Superior Drummer versions have some brush stuff.
Also Wavesfactory Brush Drums, Soniccouture Brush Kit.
Many more out there if you search properly!

Thank you DECiBELLE!
And all the best for 2022.

These are really good and matched with the Steinway B from the same developper make the ultimate combo.
You can never ever have enough brush sounds in your palette. Those who know, know!

Great share – the set sounds very natural and convincing, love it, thank you DECiBEL! Unfortunately load time of the samples is extraordinary long [Monterey 12.01/Logic 10.7.2 (M1)] – it would take more than 3 minutes from external 6tb drive ...

To everyone, the first time ever that you load a new instrument, it will always take the longest.
After that, fast.
And that is regardless of batch-resaving!
But because people often do a resave first, they don't realise that batch-resaving isn't the reason why a new lib/inst will load faster the second time!
After the first locating of samples, it knows where they all are.
This happens naturally via batch-resave, which essentially is doing the same thing as a first load has to do. And equally can take some time, depending on the amount of samples. Lots of small samples, and lots of .nki, takes a while.

I can safely say...THIS IS AMAZING! AND I NEVER SHOUT IN BLOCKS!
Playing with it now.
Wow. I always said it would take a load more samples to do this properly, because the swirls have never really been sorted in any product.
And this is more GBs than some drum kits, and around the same as an Abbey Road drum library...but that has its alt mics too. (Which is obviously what makes it Abbey Road because it captures the ambience; just saying that for the Minify posse.)
But this seems to have been sampled deeply, hence the size.
Thank you DECiBELLE, and very well done Fluffy Audio.

What a great post. As a drummer I can appreciate this and will definitely find its way to one of my tracks.
Too old to make a difference.
