Thanks Sunny! This is 24/96 and Gold 24/44.1. Is the difference audible? Is it worth the extra disc space?

i could never tell the difference between 44 and 96khz samples unless im pitching them way up or way way down (of course 96 sounds better at this point if the pitch algo is good).. but with a kontakt piano like this, there's not going to be any pitch shifting. and with 24 versus 16bit, i could only hear the difference when boosting super quiet samples like +72db at which point only 24bit sounded good still (16bit being dither noisy). so for a kontakt library like this - considering how it's supposed to be used/played, i think the 44/24 bit one wins.

Heh. Isn't F8 ~5.5Khz? I guess they're overcompensating :D Does anyone have any idea how many RR this has? Wasn't in description...

As a side note, it would be cool if manufacturers could get their ass in gear and make MIDI steps = 65536 or something. And make a controller that uses bluetooth 5. And etcs...

I feel like its getting to be overkill at this point... It sounds about the same as Keyscape or any other dedicated keys library... You know what libraries really piss me off though, those damned Ocean Way drums and Mixosaurus... I understand multiple mic positions and all that, but do they actually sound better than what was previously available? I don't think they did.

Synthogy sucks.
My best pianos are Spitfire HZ, NI The Grandeur and all of the True Keys pianos.

I have tested the Production Voices Grand Gold (53 GB)
Pros: The dynamics are amazing. Never before I heard such a rich level of forte and fortissimo vs piano and pianissimo. The sound is great. The range is amazing.
Cons: The pedal, strings and keys noises were all a mess. It generated a noise that were escalating as you play along.
When playing with pedal, the sound disturbingly changed from normal to sordino. I had to turn off all noises to play it, but it sounds dry.
Needs more sound tools like reverbs and stuff.

It is a promising piano, but it still needs some work.

This IS the 430gb version. After unrar it should be around 200gb, created using the compression for Kontakt. The company claims that this version is the most playable for live situations.

How many of us are concert pianists relying on software to deliver the perfect rendition of a grand piano? My guess is 99% of us use piano as part of an ensemble or at best perhaps as backing for a solo vocal, where the attention is on the vocal, not the precision of the pedal damping. I have too many pianos already that sound great in a mix. I'm talking songs on Billboard charting albums and nobody ever said "nice song, shame about the piano sound" We're turning sampling into forensic science. It's just music.

I have a client who swears by 4Front True Pianos. He's into pop-music.

And he does have more than a couple of big GB Pianos, like Steinberg Grand, for example. He bought it, but doesn't use it. Says True Pianos just sits in the mix better. :winker:

I personally still use a couple of MB [!] pianos for my old Roland, Yamaha and E-Mu samplers, because they just sit in the mix better and sound more interesting, too.

Any sample bank beyond a couple of GBs is just wankery IMO. And if you don't know how to play a piano, no amount of GBs Piano will help you to make better music. Get a real one instead and practice every day for a couple of years, if you want to learn how to play a piano.
