Two years ago, I would have gone nuts having the opportunity to try this one.

Today I just realize that a 10 gb library is more than enough if it's in the middle of a mix.

This kind of library only makes sense if you have a very good controller such as the Kawai which was mentioned by someone here. Also you would have to be a real pianist to take advantage of such a library otherwise, what's the point?

Thx for the effort, but after having tons of Piano Libraries from 400 MB to 400 GB, I think I am done with Piano libraries. :D

Thx a lot anyway for providing all the awesome gifts.

People complaining about a couple of hundred gb being to much for a virtual piano library with 8 microphones simply do not know what they are talking about. You can use your toy pianos to put in the pop mixes, and that is all fine. But if you want a sound and playabilityi that is getting close to a real grand, this is one of the very best. It is recorded dry and does needs some tweaking and some professional reverbs/ effects to really shine.

This library does not make sense if you are not a real pianist. As you said, it's not possible to notice any difference between this one and a few gb library in a pop mix.

Just wondering how many people here will really use this.

Well of course, this is the way to go if you're making piano music, classical or jazz. But even then I wonder about its size, though. I've heard beautiful and very realistic pianos that are just a couple of GBs in size or less. It really depends on the quality of samples and sampler, not size so much.

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. Who would need such a jumbo library. Is this really so much better than something like Hammersmith or others. I don't get the trend toward this. And it's not just the drives space, it's the loading time and time between patches. There are quite a large number of capable pianos out there that sound pretty good 5-20gb or less.

That said, there are some lite versions of some of the Prod Voices libs in the wild that sound more than good enough.

This is just a space saving NKI version without the samples, in keeping with not making mirrors you still have to download the piano library, but after you can save space, you can load this NKI and save the piano samples that will drop the size down to 14GB with it still sounding good. I've added in reverb and peddle script.

Yes, this library is for solo pianists. This is to be used with a real controller like VPC1. As such with 8 great mics it is really good and the size is NOT excessive at all. To hear people say it is over the top, well they are not pianists.

And yes, if you need a loop or chords to sit in a popmix there are lots of lighter libraries to choose from that might be right for the job, but that is besides the point.

And a piece of friendly advice, if you are a pianist looking for realism, stay far away from HZ Piano, it really is a piece of overpriced bloated fakeware.

+1 ...not that playable, doesnt feel as real at all, but it is a fantastic sounding library, great for cinematic stuff, which is actually made for

Would a concert pianist (assuming he or she has no access to a real piano) use a sample library inside Kontakt, with its lengthy load time, or prefer something like a Roland RD-2000 with 88 weighted keys, an immersive realistic, purpose built piano action and instant on sound? I personally don't see any sense in making bigger and bigger piano libraries.

Although not for classical recitals but for composing and recording cinematic stuff, this concert pianist would, and is using library like this with a weighted midi controller I cant stand the fake sound of modeled pianos such as rolands, yamahas, etc... There are very playable kontakt libraries, plus low latency, and you re good to go. But as I saud, the sound alone is the biggest thing for me, and I welcome every additional GB that improves realism.

I'm sure a real pianist have or look for a real piano.
And the most virtual realistic, key weight, pedal that really works is the Casio, not Roland.
I know dozens of good pianists who, after getting frustrated with their home recordings on their Steinways and Bösendorfers, got good professional recording results using Kontakt. If you do not have a German 'Neuman M149' microphone, you'd better Kontakt your self.

Reality check... Real pianists use piano libraries these days. Have you tried the Kawai VPC1 controller. I can recommend it. It is real.

Is the Yamaha AvantGrand N1 hooked up to this library the Best setup for classical student?
  Resident 11.11.2014 323

There is no best setup, you have to investigate what is best for you. If money is an issue you might want to look into VPC1 and a decent pair of speakers/headphones. Actually even if money is not an issue I would recommend looking it up. Also give Hammersmith Pro a spin before you decide.

Perhaps there is a difference between the European tradition from the distant world Eastern Oriental news. I'll believe when I see a concert on these instruments, which I do not think I´ll see.
But, as I commented before, they're great for digital recordings and no one complains about the final result.
