just curious, would you really use it in a song?
and if you have melodyne, you can export to midi..

I use just about every MIDI pack/file I've downloaded from AZ! I compose for tv mostly and you can't create enough music to satisfy the demand. So I've resorted to using the MIDI files as my "collaborator"... to start ideas or just create the foundation. This way I can get 3 tracks done a day which in turn results in more tracks placed on tv and more royalties. The big (successful) production libraries want a composer to have an available catalog of a 1,000 tracks or more... and since I'm always placing them, I also have to replace them and continue my track count. I started out with around 500 tracks and royalties around $300 per quarter (or $1200/yr).
Now I quit my day job and average $5000 per quarter ($20,000/year) which doesn't include my international royalties (since they lag about a year behind), plus all the film work, advertising and corporate training videos which fetches me another $15,000-$20,000/yr. My royalty distributions are constantly rising since I've adopted this technique and so to answer your question... "yes", the MIDI is EXTREMELY necessary and useful.

Understandable but Melodyne will export anything into a MIDI file. Polyphonic material and even percussive material..
