REQ: W. A. Production Deep Dubstep Course

In this course, we are crafting a deep dubstep beat inspired by artists like Peekaboo, Hemdi, and Skrillex using Xfer Serum and Ableton Live 11. This style is characterized by rich, deep FM basses and synths, complemented by airy and atmospheric effects.
Video 1 - Drums
In the first video, we lay down the basics of every EDM beat and song: The Drums. We'll cover the essential drum patterns and techniques to set a solid foundation.
Video 2 - Main Sub
This style relies heavily on a powerful and unique sub bass as a fundamental layer beneath other basses. In this video, we create a sub bass using FM synthesis, distortion, and other key techniques.
Video 3 - FM Layer
Next, we focus on the FM bass layer that enhances the mid frequencies of the sub bass, ensuring it stands out in the mix.
Video 4 - Fill Bass A
Every EDM drop needs filler basses to add depth and complexity. In this video, we design a filler bass that complements the main FM sub bass.
Video 5 - Fill Bass B
We introduce another filler bass, expanding our sound palette and adding variety to the drop.
Video 6 - FX Perc A
Airy and atmospheric effects are crucial in this style. While many might use percussion hits with reverb and delay, Dan demonstrates his unique approach by creating these effects in Serum.
Video 7 - FX Perc B
Continuing with atmospheric elements, we craft another percussive effect hit, again using Serum to maintain consistency and creativity.
Video 8 - Main Sub Variations
To add even more value to the course, Dan showcases several alternative basses that can replace the main bass, allowing you to evolve your drop and expand your sound design skills with valuable tips and tricks.
