I used to own the hardware version of this. None of the Eventide software emulations I've tried sound anywhere near close to the real thing. If you think you're going to pull up a window in your DAW that says 'Eventide' on it and you'll magically get the sound, IMO you're dreaming.

To be fair though, I feel pretty much the same about almost all of the software emulations of classic studio hardware pieces... they're selling you the name, not the sound.

You came to a site that pretty much solely distributes such emulations, to say this??? Let's get that hardware back, that you used to own.

"You came to a site that pretty much solely distributes such emulations"...

A) You must be blind. There's hundreds of offerings on this site that have zero to do with apps that claim to sound like classic hardware.

B) If you check my comments here you'll find I come to this site for more than just a single comment or subject. If you're going to post an insult, at least get your facts straight.

C) I wish I could get some of the old hardware back, but most of it is no longer within financial reach. If software apps like this Eventide could actually replace that hardware that probably wouldn't be the case, and the old stuff wouldn't be so crazy expensive now. In fact, if these software apps could really get the job done they'd probably be giving away the old hardware. I paid somewhere between 900 - 1000 USD for the H3000 many years ago. Today, for a fully working H3000 it would probably run you between 3000 and 4000 USD.

Some algorithms are missing from their 'H3000', but if you have functioning ears, you can still do pretty much everything with what's available. That was the point back then, whether it's 1:1 or not. Most of the time, it's close enough to not be a showstopper.

When you know the end product will be streamed and consumed on EarPods, the missing percentage becomes irrelevant.

A good song or track will always stand out, regardless of the signal paths.

More often than not, you'll see top engineers using stock plugins, and a handful of few plugins that amateurs are disparaging until they find out, then suddenly they become cool again.

There are demos to feel if a tool is meeting your expectations and matches your vision & perception. Everything else is secondary.

Well some guitar and bass ampsims has come really really close but the funny part is they doesnt have the real name most of the ones that has the real name doesnt sound as close as the one with a phoney name.
Oh and as you said they selling the name as many real names appear on more than ONE ampsim maker.
